Guest Matador Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Hi, Can anyone tell me why Colombovac PMV has been taken off the market?
Guest IB Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 It's a licencing problem for its new production site. Reckon available again in UK some time this year, later than Spring..
Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 read on another site this hasent been updated , birds that have been injected are still getting the virus
Guest IB Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 read on another site this hasent been updated , birds that have been injected are still getting the virus After questions were asked on this Site, I emailed Fort Dodge. This is their reply:- Dear Ian Answers to your questions Regards Ian Church Manager Poultry Vaccine Division FDAH Hi, We were having a discussion on vaccination in general, the spark for that was Colombovacs non-availability in the UK until 2009. (1) As this is the second time in recent years we wondered what the reason was for this? Due to a change in manufacturing site which requires a new product licence (2) It's time for the annual flu jab, which I understand is different every year to take account of the current strains in the environment. Does this apply too to PMV-1? Unlike flu PMV 1 strain has remained the same for many years (3) We are required by law to do our racing pigeons annually. But have you any research on how long Colombovac gives effective immunity for? Colombovac immunity lasts for one year only which is why they need to be revaccinated annually (4) Is there any plan to produce a once-in-a-lifetime PMV-1 vaccination? No this is not possible

REDCHEQHEN Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Colombovac PMV is always running out - however it has a much longer shelf life than Nobivac - the last lot our pigeon club bought for last years young birds had a use by date of Oct 2010 - so there may be some in stock somewhere - such as the site Fife_Flyer put on - but at a price - I think we paid the same for 100 dose as they are charging for 50 dose
Taylorsloft Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 i do have nobivac 80 dos i think will just have to use that got it last year. never use nobivac before
pj1001 Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Has anyone used Chevita 'chevivac-P200' PMV vaccine before and if so how did you find it? Is it water or oil based does anyone know? I looked at the Chevita site but it doesn't seem to indicate what the vaccine base is. I have emailed Chevita and if they get back to me I will post their reply. PJ
