weecunny Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 ok what is it as av never seen it .what would u look for and how would u treat it
Tony C Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Vomiting is the most obvious sign but if you don’t happen to see this and the other pigeons eat that corn you'll be none the wiser. A sign to look out for is a pigeon or two sitting out taking no notice when you call them in, they just remain stationary. Another sign is their droppings become green and sticky. You don’t actually treat for y/b/s you treat for any secondary infection that might take hold. I would day if you've had any problems in the last year (old birds) i.e. e-coli, respiratory, Candida treat for these, if they've had a clean bill of health in the last year just let them fight it without antibiotics. Feed them light and put yogurt in the drinker one day ACV the next. Any pigeon found with a full crop of undigested food I remove from the loft for 24 hours or until its either spewed or digested its food

greenlands Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Sambucol elderberry extract.trying it for the first time this season, very cheap if it works Cowman how much do you put in a litre of water.Lindsay
Back garden fancier Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Young birds throw up for lots of reasons, if you feed too much, they eat lots then when the water in their crop swells the corn they throw up to relieve the pressure. Also canker can do it.
Guest numpty01 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 i just tip it in till i like look of colour
Guest Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 regarding the elderberry i boil it abd freeze it in ice cube bags 1 per 3ltr drinker at least once a week dont know if it does any good for y/b sickness but the birds love it and look great in feather doesnt do the wild birds any harm either when its on the tree they go mad for it seen a whole tree picked clean in a day or two
Guest numpty01 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 hi frank nice to see you back ;)yes wild birds know its good for um
