Modern Loft Management + Perfect Care System

Of course, your pigeons' success is partly determined by their state of health and by the way they are kept.

Today, a modern loft management certainly includes each of the three vaccinations (paramyxo, salmonella, pox). Counter-arguments can only originate from laziness, stupidity, or ignorance. In order to minimize the incidences of sickness in both young and old birds I additionally protect my pigeons with a strain-specific E. coli vaccine. Further information is available in "Reports".

E. coli bacteria carried by the youngsters of last year make the administration of Tollisan Adeno powder before racing practically mandatory. Subsequently you should treat your birds with the new Tollisan T+K+K powder. Due to its excellent galenics it is highly effective against trichomonads and contains an additional substance which has proven its worth in the treatment of gastrointestinal problems caused, for instance, by E. coli bacteria.

During racing season T+K+K tablets allow a selective one-on-one treatment for the birds to be raced. You will find none of them throwing up their tablets and the perfectly round droppings discharged the following day are going to convince you.

At the beginning of racing season you should also provide your pigeons with a preventative treatment against respiratory problems. Tollisan Broncho-Speed is a very effective product for the treatment of problems with the upper respiratory organs like dry pharyngitis, also known as "thick heads".

During preventative treatment also add Tollyamin3+dreiplus to the drinking trough. Make sure to stick to the above mentioned administration sequence. First of all arrange for your pigeons' gastrointestinal condition to be impeccable. Only then are the respiratory products fully effective. Repeat the above described treatments several times during a racing season (approx. 4 times).

For years now, I have been feeding my pigeons Versele-Laga Plus mixtures. "Plus", in this case, stands for fructooligosaccharides (FOS). Fructooligosaccharides serve as nourishment for benign intestinal bacteria. The positive effect is reflected in round and firm droppings after feed uptake.

During the first days (Sat.,Sun.,Mon.) after racing my birds get Versele Depurative Plus, then (Mon.,Tue.,Wed.) 50% Depurative Plus + 50% Gerry Plus, and during the last days (Wed.,Thu.,Fri.) Gerry Plus + peeled sunflower seeds. You got it right – the transitions on some days are seamless.

After all, you will have to develop a feeling for how to feed your pigeons in order to cope with various difficulty levels of races (short/long; easy/demanding) and changing weather conditions (hot, wet, cold). I never keep my birds on the hungry side using, however, light mixtures without pulses. These only place a burden on the pigeon’s body and nowadays science provides better, faster, and more tolerable forms of animal protein supply, for example, through products like Tollisan Immunol (animal protein) and Tollyamin3+dreiplus (amino acids).

48 hours after uptake of these two products regeneration is accomplished and the birds are ready for the next race.

Immediately after the pigeons’ return add Tollisan Vital Elektrolyt in combination with Tollyamin3+ dreiplus to the drinking trough. Thanks to high concentrations of proteins contained in Tollyamin3+dreiplus the regeneration process begins with the first sip.

Saturday evening, after isolating the hens, your returning pigeons should be provided with Depurative Plus lubricated with Dosto-WG-Ropa feeding oil and dried with Tollisan Immunol (animal proteins). Repeat the whole procedure on Sunday and Monday. Afterwards the birds will be at the top of their form again, a precondition for the next race to become a success.

The administration of Dosto-WG-Ropa during the first days after racing seems indispensable to me. The untreated oregano oil produced by DOSTOfarm Germany has potent antibacterial properties and enhances the birds' appetite. During racing season this is of extreme importance for the widow cocks. It is up to you to decide which pharmaceutical form you prefer (oil, liquid, powder).

Due to a boost in our sales figures and the corresponding production growth I have been able to reduce the price of Tollisan Immunol by 10.00 Euros. Increasing demand confirms the exceptionally positive properties of this product. Tollisan Immunol (immunoglobulins) is a source of highly concentrated animal proteins which are also adequate during breeding. In particular some old breeding hens will benefit from the protein supply after repeatedly laying eggs and feeding their squeakers. It should be a matter of common knowledge that pre-fledglings need large amounts of proteins.

The isolated youngsters should take up Dosto-WG-Ropa liquid 10% with their water on a daily basis (1 ml/3 liters of water). On top of that, add Tollisan Quick (iodine-iron complex) twice per week. Combined the two products can also be administered via the feed which I consider to be the better solution during a hot summer period. Dosto-WG-ROPA liquid 10% and Tollisan Quick provide an effective protection against young bird sickness. Nevertheless, I highly recommend you to make sure that both young and

old pigeons receive the above described preventative treatments.

During molt I feed 25% Depurative Plus + 25% Gerry Plus + 25% Moulting Plus + 25% sunflower seeds. Usually seed mixtures for molting are far too rich and contain too many pulses. On a daily basis I add 20 ml Tollyamin dreiplus + 1 ml Dosto-WG Ropa liquid 10% to 3 liters of drinking water. This provides for an easy molt and a silken feathering. Please bear in mind that feathers grow continuously, not just once a week! Consequently, a weekly administration of a "molting aid" is perfect nonsense.

Once molt has been completed I exclusively feed Depurative Plus. You should stop administering Tollyamin3+ dreiplus and add Dosto-WG Ropa liquid 10% to the drinking water three times per week only. Otherwise, your pigeons may become so bouncing you will have to fear for your loft equipment and this should be avoided at that early stage.

For three years now Heiner Tolls Soup "Tollisan Reha Vital Elixier" has been on the market. Its composition strengthens the body's defense mechanisms. Pigeon breeders increasingly give positive feedbacks on this natural product, some even saying it worked wonders. I have taken to administering Reha Vital Elixier via the feed twice per week during molt/wintertime – also to my isolated youngsters.

Avoid any medicamentous treatments during periods of inactivity. After molt has been completed solely provide your birds with an anthelmintic therapy using Concurat-L (Bayer). Moreover, pigeons shouldn't fly too often during molt/wintertime. The repose has a beneficial effect on your birds and prevents them from limbering up to early.

These pieces of info are interesting and useful but the problem comes in that some of these vaccinations are not legal or approved over here. It also makes you wonder how many birds purchased from abroad are carriers without showing signs due to these treatments!

I've posted.like Tom that on this site. We spouted the properties. Great for Feathering, iron, ceansing blood etc. 4 inches off the top. Let simmer in saucepan and mix a with a 1rd to 2 rds water.

Best to have left the water you are going to use over night.

Posting / sharing articles is one of the fundamental uses on which the internet is built. Provided you include the webpage link and give the author due credit for his/her work - and don't attempt to pass it on as your own - there isn't usually any problem with for example, copyright.

In the past, I've posted a bit from published books, and have always included in my post the ISBN number for the book, the author's name, and the cost ; to me that amounts to some additional advertising for both the publisher & author, AND any short extract is within copyright rules.

In closing, I feel if you can add a reference to any information you post, this helps to sort out verifiable facts from perhaps mistaken personal beliefs. We are here to pass on information, if we can show that it is also correct information, and include where folks can go to find out more, it can only boost Pigeonbasics reputation.

i have often contacted newspapers and publishers to allow use of copy and have never been refused as long as credit is given.

IB as you know we usually agree on things but in this case mate your wrong, take a look at the copyright notice on that site strapper quoted, I p.m'd him it.   Rather than come across as a know it all because I don't, just check out the link here... http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/copy/c-other.htm  you have to ask the permission of the site owner to use their work, giving a link is not always acceptable as the 'fair usage policy' is only applicable in the USA.   Attributing the work can help but the fact that taking the quote from one site and posting it in its entirity on another reduces the amount of visitors to the original site and that's where the problem lies.  Providing a link is fine but taking the text requires the permission of the owner unless stated that the info is freely availabe.   I'd like to take this time to congratulate my son on just passing his LLB (Hons) degree which included IP Law.  The only reason I knew so much about this subject.   ;)  8)

Breaching copyright law doesn't enhance reputation it jeapardizes it.    :-/

PJC; Phil, you done the right thing by contacting them and most of the time you won't get turned down as long as it doesn't take away their traffic etc, strapper on this occassion never asked and even though his intentions were honorable as usual I just looked and saw how strict the copyright on that site was.  Only looking out for PB not myself, I have nothing to lose by reading interesting posts like that.
