paddymac Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Pearse its the late Bobby Carruthers from Bonnyrigg that Gareth has mentioned in his post. As Phil said we were chatting about them the other day as I still have a few in the loft . The Mc Eleney Bros flew them quite well in the INFC when they flew into Foyle Springs and had fantastic results with them but sadly have since parted with all their birds. They are definately up for flying into our area in the N/West, good pigeons
OLDYELLOW Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Or maybe 'Bobby Caruthers' ..?? Think the might have been called moneymakers or somerthing..??? believe he flew carmicheal kirkpatricks were lovely reds with black splashes , is he still flying ?
paddymac Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Sadly passed away a few years back Mark
OLDYELLOW Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Sadly passed away a few years back Mark thought as much , were cracking looking birds
paddymac Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Yes Mark, have to agree and they could fly as well as they looked.
Novice Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Gareth is correct. He was a very consistent dedicated 500 miles flyer. I believe he features on a Keith Mott Video. Yes he passed a few years ago. I believe there was a pigeon called Moneymaker which was either a Red or Mealy cock. I seem to remember him winning or almost winning a National with a 9 year old pigeon.

Yes he won SNFC Sartilly with his 9 year old hen with a vel of 1189 which is quite amazing, i am under the impression that Moneymaker was a mealy as you say but was it not a hen?? You would struggle to have found a more committed and knowledgeable Pigeon man in the uk than Bobby and a very nice man to go with it. 8) 8) 8)

jimmy white Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Moneymaker was a Mealy Cock yes, a meally cock, i remember this bird well, moneymaker also left many off springs to score at over 500 miles,, [i had one lol a g/child which scored from nantes,[608 miles] a meally hen,,,allthough he did win a national with a 9 year old hen, he was also second nat on a few occasions,,and off course many great positions through out the years,, a very dedicated pigeon fancier, one of the "greats",, there is many national winning pigeons with bobby caruthers blood lines in them, still up to to-day
