mickf Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 did you let your birds sit more than 8 days on there second round eggs,if so that is the reason there throwing flights.
aye ready Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 did you let your birds sit more than 8 days on there second round eggs,if so that is the reason there throwing flights. nope they were all split when the first pair were sitting 8 days the cock in question was only sitting 4 days the yearling 7 days
Guest frank dooman Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 you might need to re-pair him martin but if hes started now i dont think you will stop him now
hotrod Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 nope they were all split when the first pair were sitting 8 days the cock in question was only sitting 4 days the yearling 7 days (sitting 4 days) is this on the second round martin ? after sitting on y/birds in the first round ?
Guest frank dooman Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 could it be a darkness y/bird from last year martin?
aye ready Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 (sitting 4 days) is this on the second round martin ? after sitting on y/birds in the first round ? aye stuart and he reared on the first round and he's 5 yr old frank
hotrod Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 aye stuart and he reared on the first round and he's 5 yr old frank correct me if im wrong but its one thing that i learned all those years ago that the moult is normally trigerred on the second round of eggs after rearing on the first. in other words you should have split them before they went back down on the second round of eggs. i know of some top roundabout /widowhood fliers that lift either the cock or hen away when the first young/round is/are about 14 days old and only one parent finnishes them off . they do this to stop the moult . again jmo.
aye ready Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 just need to leave him be the now stuart and see how he goes cheers
