I have 5 questions to ask;

 

which corns do you recommend for your pigeons to feed?

 

Breeding ?

 

Weaned youngsters ?

 

Racing old birds ?

 

Racing youngsters ?

b4 breeding , make sure their not carrying eccess fat b4 pairing [laying] a higher carbo diet at this time, whilst feeding, a higher protein diet with plenty grit, minerals , pickstones etc, and a tablespoon or two of baby,s powdered milk in their water [never done that this year due to family illness,time wise etc,they had to take a back seat this year], when racingob,s would feed a high carbo diet for sprinters a higher protein diet for distance,, if i was keen to win with yb,s would feed a handfull or two of  depurative ,yeast and lemon in the morning and a w. hood mix of an evening , but yb,s destined for the distance in the future ,a higher protein diet,, maybe a wee tip for those who use a sputnick , some times the yb,s are nervy the first race or so ,would put a perspex sheet on the base of the sputnick with a handfull of seed underneath it ,and a hungry old hen in the loft when the yb,s are due  ,itll pick at this for ages and aid in getting the yb in  ;D

I feed to my racers widowhood,widowhood red and super widowhood all mixed togeather and in the winter i feed all the mixes togeather I buy from my supplier that have burst bags gradualy going onto barley/wheat

I use one corn all year round , VERSA-LAGA ENERGY PLUS, I breed, and race on it , you will need nothing else except pink and black mineral and calcium supplement, thats it !!!!!!!!!! simple hey.. yes and i win 50% of the races i enter and do not lose pigeons and also breed outstanding youngsters !! do not get caught up in commercial rubbish you dont need.

all members of my club feed farm mixed corns...my self i use a high protein mixture from the farm, .more or less of something mixed in depending on wether racing or not.

breeding ...beans/maize/mixed peas.. some small seed type.

 

weaning....high protein mixture maybe some beans added not many.

 

o/bs racing.....high protein mixture  small amount of beans added when distance comes around.

 

y/bs..... high protein mixture with added maples.

 

o/bs and y/bs   recieve plenty of peanuts.

..no expensive mixtures are purchased...most 25kg bags cost me £6.60 a bag

 

just remember most companys purchase their corn from these farms.

 

best corn ive found is court farm hereford..the guys a true gent and got plenty of time for u....paul.
