Speckled Jim Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Tried feeding some peanuts to young birds other day, they just pecked at them, didnt eat them, is it best to break them up or crush them for. I'm trying them out as a treat to get birds trapping quicker?
john nico Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 no you dont have to brake them our crush them when there ready they will eat them and once they get a taste for them they will be looking for them all the time
Guest Paulo Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Have bought them the last couple of years from Holland and Barrett health shops, very good but very expensive and i think in 2009 i will have to re mortgage the house. The fact you considering that option shows your a true pigeon man lol. My birds get more of my cash than I do. I wondered when I started why all my dads mates kept saying "look Paul we'll bred you some birds but be warned this sport is an obession and between pigeons and women you'll never have any money.'' How true!!!!
Guest Paulo Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 As for the peanuts question I've heard you should microwave them to kill any fungus from them is this true?

Guest IB Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 As for the peanuts question I've heard you should microwave them to kill any fungus from them is this true? If I thought I needed to microwave peanuts bought from a shop for my own consumption, I'd be reporting the shop to Environmental Health. The difference between peanuts for pets and peanuts for us is that the pet shop can legally buy and sell the contaminated stuff for pets; if any shop did that and sold it for human consumption, then it could get closed down. By law : Peanuts meant for Animals allowed 5% mould contamination; Humans - 0% contamination.
Guest IB Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Guy who does extremely well in our Fed told our Moot he feeds his widowhood cocks a mixture which includes crushed peanuts.
