pigeonman007 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 The Amtrak site hs gone, it just says Ian Best and Tom Lukic were appointed as Administrators to Netfold Limited trading as Amtrak on 22nd August 2008
Roland Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Be some time, if ever, before admins sort it out... Might not actyally mean that they won't re - open. 'Careful what one wishes for' does indeed spring to mind Chriss. Now whether one likes it or not, Fanciers' will have to pull together, Have to put hands up, or into their pocket, and sort out a relay set up, with of course help from the likes of, if not only AMdeliveries. Need a webwork inside feds / counties then country for decent and effective set up I believe. Fear too many will be saying already. 'Well won't have the birds back then ... or something silly like 'Good Riddance to them'.
bluewhiteflight Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 the local depot in barrow in furness cumbria is open this morning
Guest shadow Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 speaking to one of the drivers a few weeks ago they were considering restructure and packing up livestock transport under the reconstruction just the same as interlink did many moons ago

OLDYELLOW Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 in the current financial market with rising fuel costs and negative growth housing market at a stand still , i cant see anyone want to make amtrack an offer as they will no doubt be in the very same position , i guess this will become common place , my father inlaw lost his job as a delievery driver for another firm just because his route had become no longer viable and they was loosing money , welcome to the start of a recession
Guest chrisss Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 there is one small mercy in all of this ,at least this happened over a bank holiday, can you picture this happening in a "normal"week, could you picture the hundreds[thousands?]of birds stuck in unmanned depots all over the country?,would they have been moved by guys no longer been payed?
Roland Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 True Chriss... More importantly can we see the problems fast amounting upon us!
Guest IB Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 As the crunch came over a weekend, there should be no livestock in transit. Administrators have a duty to try and sell on the business, or parts of it, as a going concern. I think it is far too early to tell whether it's finished or not. I don't know of any other firm that transports individual livestock lots, so there should be a niche market there. Making it profitable is another matter.

There should be other couriers becuase you can have birds other than pigeons transported :-/
