Guest chrisss Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 am deliveries just called to collect bird from pheobe,s auction luckily i was in at the time , asi had no infofmation they were coming today, they will have to get this sorted otherwise alot of wasted journeys are going to be made, plus alot of buyers and sellers will look for alternative couriers this is rather worrying, they told me they would contact you first, they wanted to pick a bird up from another member at 06.20 in the morning!!!!!,that is now going to be picked up next week [sometime]i think the problem is. that amtrak pulling the pin got all of us,and now firms are trying to pick up the slack, with pre amtrak manpower [if you see what i mean]
cemetary Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I wouldnt like anyone chap my door at that time in the morning to have a bird picked up, they have to get the times and when they will collect the birds from the fanciers fixed out or they will be very quick on loosing the custom from us pigeon fanciers.
Guest chrisss Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 i have also tried the "phantom flyer"well i left a message, he never got back to me,now that amtak have gone, the smaller firms can be very choosy, about what areas to cover, that with the price of petrol/fuel means that some guys cannot cover areas just for one bird, and need a few just to make it pay, interesting times ahead,
bewted Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 lads,,,come on,lets be nice to the couriers,,,ok,some mistakes will be made in the next few months, just give a little time for them all to get sorted as i think amtrak saga has caught every one on the hop !! lets give them a fighting chance first before you slag them off and lose what could be a good deal,,,no ones perfect at first,,,think about it all of you !!!!!!
Guest cloudview Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 don,t think anybodys slagging them off far from it , its for their benefit more than anything else, this is all new to them , they can,t just deliver bird , and leave it behind brown bin like a normal parcel

bewted Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 maybe the word "slag" was a bit too strong,,sorry for that,,it was the only one i could think of at the time !!!!!
cemetary Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 As the old saying still stands, learn by your mistakes.

I don't think for a second you should just turn up at a door expecting the finder or fancier to jump through hoops, its all about working with both parties to get a suitable and convenient time for both. We make a point of phoning the day before, and an hour or so before we think we'll reach our destination just to make sure we don't catch you out shopping, training your birds, or even in the bath for that matter. Its all about communication, sure it costs money, our phone bills are huge but that's a small sacrifice if we get to keep the fancer and finder happy and retain their custom. I for one would like to say that there IS life after Amtrak, and my company for one won't be going anywhere except forward, the more good people like many on forums like this recognise there are a few of us who have the resources to deliver the better we will get, this in turn will allow us to reduce our prices and everyone is happy. Working together is the only way forward in the long run. I'm betting on there being many short term fixes (wannabe couriers) but they'll soon see how expensive it is to run a succesful company and fade away, the serious players will grow and with your help grow for the benefit of the whole picture and not just our pockets. Sorry if that sounded like a rant, it wasn't, I just don't see it as being a big deal to show good old fashioned courtesy and customer care, something most who've experienced Amtrak know they never possesed. Jamie

Jamie i think you have to push your company [like you need telling ;D ;D ;D ;D]its firms likes yours that are on site "feeling the pulse" that will get the work now that amtrak have gone, there will be cowboys to start, but word of mouth dictates that most if not all of them will not last that long

The one thing I can say is that we'll be around for a long time to come and don't wear stetsons. ;D
