Guest mick bowler Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Do you know what when it comes to business some people have not got a clue! How can anyone not justify £30 for collecting and delivering a bird sometimes in excess of 200 miles is beyond me. For anyone that works, take a few hours off work, jump in the car go and collect it yourself, hope you don't have a puncture or mechanical failure and see how much it has cost you in lost time and fuel etc. Remember these lads still have to pay tax, NI, and possibly a pension as well, from whats left of their "profit", as well as the general up keep of the vehicles, insurance, vehicle tax etc etc. Its alright saying they could have multi-drops to do, but what about the days when there is nothing to carry? It evens its self out i'd say.
Guest numpty01 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 a three hour drive at fifty miles to the gallon is 15quid one punture today means new tyre 30quid great profit from that job nil wages 1 50hour yep lots money to be made

I have plenty to say because like i have said people think its easy for the couriers but ITS NOT at the end of the day you need your birds collecting and brought to you and unfortunatly even if you got a big couriers to do it for you i would give it a month until you were complaining about the boxes being damaged and the birds being crushed or them getting sent to the wrong hub and you having to wait days before you recieved your bird then it would be the birds havnt been given a drink or fed. Atleast with the couriers operating now if they are struggling they can find the time to water them and feed them also they are handled with care so they dont get damaged please tell me when us or any other courier has let you down or delivered a bird to you where the box is damaged ????
flyin.couriers09 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 I GIVE UP ITS DRIVIN ME NUTS ;D ;D ;D I just dont see how you can say that you are getting charged too much mate any courier would charge you that if not more.
pigeonforce Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 My name is julie, i run Pigeon Force couriers with Daryl. Can i just say that i have worked all my life from sticking carpet on cardboard to Special needs teacher, but i I have never witnessed so much blood sweat and tears with running this business with daryl and see the hard work and dedication he puts into, not only providing people with a delivery service, but also providing trust and honesty and top class customer service do you realise how many cups of tea daryl has to turn down because of the rush to get the pigeons to there destinations!!! He meet so many friendly people that thank him and make the job worth while people that are not satified with what service each individual courier provides try another and another and eventually the strongest and most dedicated will shine through. There are so many good points in being a pigeon courier, meeting lovely people travelling the uk knowing that you are providing a top class service, the down side is when people go on about being ripped off, let down and can always do one better. Why do we always have to resort to big nob companies taking over why not let the small businesses have a chance. The world is over run by these big companies, yes they could provide a faster service but how long does that last. keep the small ones going they already have to fight against the government why should we have to fight against the people we are trying to help. 9 out of 10 times the couriers are fanciers them selves and can care for the pigeons whilst in thier hands! your comments are right not everybody can be satisfied we all have to make mistakes and learn but with a bit of support from our fellow fanciers we could get this right!!!!! I had to have my say and dont want to offend anybody lets just make life easier for us all
Guest bakes Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 i think the pigeon couriers are a credit to the sport driving all over the uk to get birds from a to b working all hours under the sun credit to you lads all the best bakes.
Guest Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Well we all have a choice in life, and you get what you pay for. If you don't like the price of a pint in decent pub, use a spit and sawdust boozer. You pays peanuts, you get Monkeys. Quite simple really.

Trust me there will be alot more tears to come and long night up worrying and also you will always have people complaining that you are charging too much hence this thread in the first place and people will always complain that you are late even if its just 5 mins they will will complain. Like you say if everyone came together and done there bit to help then there would be a real strong couriers service.

Roland Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 I've done couriering... I sometime still help out mate when he has other things that prevent him from going. I was often ribbed, mostly in good fun granted, that I had shares in Amtrack. Why, because I would stick up for them left right and centre. Yes of course with the 1000's of birds being shifted weekly all over the country there was bound to be hic cups. Yes of course they sometime employed 'Drivers' who were clueless till they learnt better. Yes and the bigger the fleet, the more breakdowns, punctures, problems etc. Not neccessarily in ratio but by the average being increase via more vechiles. Now that doesn't mean that smaller companies don't get their' share! Of course they do, and this will continue to be so. So in reality, of all those who had cripes and moans, them fanciers whinging about Amtracks services etc. still whinge and moan. Even though the main difference now is that smaller companies are doing it instead of Amtrack. And mostly these are what the 'Fanciers' moaned about as well that 'WE' wanted pigeon fanciers and such to do it because THEY UNDERSTOOD our problems and needs. So there you have it! Now you've got it and them! Yet even now numskul and pardre are whinging and moaning. Mind anything above a fiver is robbery lol. ;D ;D ;DM

Mind anything above a fiver is robbery lol. ;D ;D ;DM Surely it would not matter if you were a fancier or not as if the birds are delivered within 24 hours which most are they do not need to be taken out of the boxes ???? As most of you know if we had a bird for any longer than 24 we use to make sure it was watered and fed and again it is thanks to pigeon fanciers as me or which ever driver it may be would ask a fancier to water and feed whatever birds needed to be looked after. There were a couple of times where we could not get hold of the buyer so we waited until we contacted them we would never do this without the buyers permission and we would always make sure the buyer had the contact details of the fancier who had done this for us with there permission too. So surely you dont need to be a fancier as long as you know what your doing to get the birds collected and delivered to customers then you can do the job ?????
flyin.couriers09 Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 i have no problems but you seem to have Yes his CAPTS lock is stuck ;D ;D ;D ;D
