gulkie Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 i visited willie wilson of larkhall a number of years back, willie was renound for having birds to a ripe old age ,my friend asked him where the old blue pied cock was he had seen on his last visit ,willie said he had died the week before at the age of 19. i beleive he had a bird live till he was 21. maybe its a certain types of families that live longer.

Believe that cock was a Pied cock and was the last son of White Tail who was a fantastic racer and mother of a large percentage of Willie's loft.

Guest IB Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Agree longevity is a trait in some families. Robert Cormack when he gave up the birds a few years back kept all the old 'uns to live out their days with him. Can't confirm but was told 3 lofts full, birds between 12 & 19 year old. Back when I was a teenager, birds of that age were common around Lanarkshire.
