Thanks Tarzan! Incidentally Guys, this is the bird I referred to in a previous post, that carries an ets ring, and at the time I said it wasn't stamped. I have fed it for a week and it still wont budge.

Could one of you Jocks explain to Vic, the reason for not stamping old birds. Seems strange to me somehow.

I know that Alf, but for what reason?

Surely a stamped pigeon, cuts out the red tape, that goes with it. And another point. I have had many Scottish strays in over the years, but I can't remember any being double rubbered. Is it because? .................... No!  I'd better not say it. lol. Vic.

Remember on my original post, I had a feeling it was not an English bird, hence the WISE?

insertion, which obviously stands for the four GB countries.

Hi,

I've had a bird in the garden since Friday, ring number is GB 06 J(?) 67790. He is eating wild bird food and will take it from my hand, he just wont go home! I did have him contained because of the cat, he had a good rest, food, water, I let him go and he was back the following morning. Is it true that if they are reunited with their owner that they are destroyed because they can't be raced anymore? Please advise?

but south lanarkshire are affiliated to rpra so this bird should be stamped if it belongs to an rpra member (or can they pick and choose which rules they follow?)

Vic gave Benny a phone he is 1 of lifes good guys and will get it sorted out for you ;)
I had a talk with Bernie,  (a very nice guy) who told me that it was registered, (last year) in the name of  Henry Ralston, who through illness has retired from the game. So rather than complicate matters, I will report it to the RPRA. He said that the bird should have been stamped, because it carries a GB ring.(RPRA Rules). And he reckons the reason why Scottish OBs aint stamped, has something to do with your stray centre.

May Vic add, that at marking night our birds can be checked by the handler at any time. On verification, of winning birds, if not stamped. DISQUALIFIED!

wherabouts are you in east sussex lucia  im in crawley near gatwick airport so maybe i could help  ive sent you a pm       debbie

I think its a fair point about marking but ive had about ten strays in over this season only two with either stamp/fone ring and that one i phoned for 5 nights with no ans. so its not just scottish rpra members that doesnt do it its a great no of english as well and the no of shu birds without wing stamp  are every bit as bad all my birds carry a phone ring ive even had then come home minus that rather than phone me they take it off and though it out its time fanciers stoped being so childish taking off phone rings /ets rings and start helping one another to get lost birds back if the fancier wants them

The bird apparently is registered to a Mr Starrs from Hamilton in Scotland.  The RPRA have no phone no. from him. Seeing they can't give me his address by phone, it seems that I will have to wait till tomorrow for his details, unless one of you guys can give me his phone number, if he has one.

Mr Starrs as been on the phone to me, thanks (I think) to Bernie. Regretably he says that he will be giving pigeons up this year, and he has left the issue in my hands.  The bird is a grizzle

(cock) he says. If anybody is interested, PM me. I will give it a few more days. Cheers, Vic.
