I have a few cocks that are dominating a few other nest boxes, and all the hens have laid.

Some other Cocks are just kicking the other cocks out there boxes, I have tried locking them up in there own box and locking up the pair that are getting bullyed out but as soon as

they are both opend up the bully takes over >:(

I had same problem in the past. But then this season, I put the cocks in one section of my loft  for few days, they decided amongst themselves and each picked their own boxes.

If he can defend that much territory I'd let him. My old grizzle has 3 boxes. Won inland, flown 300 mile north, and 750 mile south + places in the nationals too.

What would you do with birds that are getting kicked out there box ;) ;)

There's recently been a few threads on this problem. I know that some members have said leave the dominant cock in charge, but I think if you do that you just upset the rest of the team / section. I've also noticed things can change for the better after the hen is introduced to the box. Intruder has two birds to deal with then, and my hens when sitting will make short work of any strange cock going into their box.

I'm not paired up yet. I've settled all new cocks to their boxes except for a spat going on between two cocks, the younger one getting turned out of his box. I think that breaks the younger bird's confidence, and I left him locked up in it from Sunday till this morning, feeding & watering him in it. He seems quite bold now so will have to wait and see what has happened when I get home tonight.

We get that most years and my old fella locks the one being ousted in the box and when he's calm holds the cock thats doing the fighting/bullying in front of the weaker cock (at a lower height) and lets the weaker one peck him a while , always sorts the bully out !!!! Never fails .

I have had the same problem with 2 cock this season. I have sets of 4 nest boxes. The one cock is on the top of one set and controls the 3 directly below him. I have had to box off the 2 below him and just let one pair have the bottom set. The other cock is my main problem. He also has the top box and also controls the 2 boxes directly below him. I have 2 pairs in these and he is forever chucking them out. The other 2 cocks will not stand up to him either. I have locked the 2  hens in their boxes and hopefully he will get bored and the two cocks start to fight for their box a little. Both these hens are due to lay any day now, so can see lots of problems and smashes occuring in these boxes. I am hoping he will settle down as his own hen is due to lay her 2nd egg tonight so hopefully with him sitting the eggs the problem will be reduced just a little.

i love bully cocks who try to take over the loft and boxes there the best thing for a succesful loft as there easy to wind up when you send them and they keep the other cocks on there toes
