Found a bird last night - has a red ring with BOR2053 NEHU 2006 on it and a plain blue ring on the same leg.  On the other leg it has a white ring with 0948 on it.

As you can tell I know nothing about pigeons!

Any advice on finding the owner would be gratefully appreciated.

on the wing - good grief that seems a bit advanced!  I've only just managed to hold him to take the number down lol !!!  Is there a technique for holding him calmly - he walked onto my finger last night but now realises he is with an ameteur and has lost confidence in me handling him.  I know your spposed to hold the wings against the body - saw it on the telly!! but how do you do that when its flapping! Is the number on either wing and am I looking for a tag or just marker pen?  I'm sorry, I must sound ridiculous.

you don't soound ridiculous at all - and its not easy to do - it took me months !!

Hold the bird close to your body with one hand - and extend the wing with the other hand

repeat for both wings

wingstamping however for the NEHU is not compulsory

Thnak you - I've phoned him this morning, so fingers crossed the owner will want him back.  We are a long way away - what happens if the owner doesn't want to travel to collect - Northumberland is a considerable distance from Wales - he'd have to be a very special bird I would think!
