Novice Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Will the bird eat anything> Try some peanut kernals if you have any. Good luck
Peckedhen Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Thank you for taking him in. He sounds dehydrated and exhausted, try dipping his beak into a deep dish of water just up to but not over his nostrils. If you have any wild bird seed he might pick out from that what he recognises.
endywa Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 he's not eaten anything have tried some wild bird food and have left him with a bowl of water deep enough to get his nostils in,he's a real sweetie but my dogs scared stiff of him ;D when he wandered into the house this morning the dog fled upstairs
Peckedhen Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 BUMP!! Come on guys, what else can you suggest to help this non-fancier??
invalidusername Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Hey, well done for taking him in - really good of you. Wish I was close. What are the bird's feathers like. Flat or puffed out? What about the eyes - droopy, or nice and open? As Susan has said, water a few inches deep so that he can drink. You could try waggling your finger in the water, as that can encourage them to drink. Splash your finger about a bit. If you're able to keep him out of harm's way, that'd be excellent. Your dog might get a bit braver, so watch that. Anyone near the Wirral who can help out? You're doing a sterling job, Wendy. Well done.
