invalidusername Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 I have problems uploading pictures from my computer, so I do my editing locally, then upload to the web. I use Photobucket. Personally, I think they look better when they're web hosted, but that's a personal preference. Good luck :-)

Which for me ;D ;D ;D, makes this site so terrific in many ways. Thou some ???????? may disagree, I would never mention any names etc ;) but be very wary of any ex plumbers, who you may just happen to come across here with their wisdom :) . Enjoy.
Guest Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Birdlady well done this bird has found her dream home! Shame there are not more people like yourselfs around. Pigeons are not stupid and this little lady knows what side her bread is buttered and has proved that by returning to you rather than her previous owners. I would say tho that eventually she may wll go for good, nothing to blame yourself on, but pigeons are social birds and like to have others around, and of course as she gets a bit older her hormones will kick in too!! Keep up the good work its a pleasure reading your updates, and go careful i know many fanciers who havegot the bug and started up like this!!

I bred both for 7 yrs...but was very choosey where they went...........anyway.hand reared all cockatiels from 3 weeks....as these munchkins were coming out the nestbox at that age........... I had people from all over come for them........Blackpool,London,Peterborough and so on....our local petshop took most of my baby budgies as they were so tame they used to greet anyone in the petshop.....however 2 yrs ago my system decided to play up and it turns out im know allergic to the dust/powder.....so all went outside..... so NO MORE birds for us............at least with Honey.......she is her own boss, she comes and goes whenever she please's ,she took off the minuite i opened the domw up this morning and hasnt returned yet...........i expect she will at teatime ;D..........and also.......i have read on here about how many race and dont get thier birds back ??)couldnt deal with that............ .We have GSD OF 13 YRS too and im kept busy with her. Nice chatting to ya...... I will get some snaps on here if its the last thing i do........i took some lovely ones last night, watch this space..........

birdlady1 Posted August 15, 2008 Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 here she is eating out my hand, say hello to Honey having a meal Close up.... and another...... lovely markings, and so to bed............
invalidusername Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 She certainly is a honey. Beautiful and knows a good home when she sees one :-)
birdlady1 Posted August 15, 2008 Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 I would actually like to know if Cockatiel mix is ok for her (Buxtons) along with the added lentils, mung beans, pearl barley....(this is MY stew mix she is getting) ;D ;D ;D ,.....sunflower hearts and eggfood....of which i have all year round..my birds get them along with fresh fruit and veg..however i dont seem to think pigeons will eat any fruit or veg.....am i right?.......any more tips on feeding her will be appreciated........ she did help herself to some dried flower seeds out of my border the other day
REDCHEQHEN Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Pigeons will eat some veg - greens particularly - and one of the manufacturers puts carrots in one of their mixes - dried - somehow cress and lettuce seem the favourites if the hen didn't like what she was eating - she would leave the bits she didn't like I have verbascum in the garden and the pigeons eat the seed heads if they feel the need - its good for respiratory problems

birdlady1 Posted August 16, 2008 Author Report Posted August 16, 2008 That will be a very nice lady when she back to full condition............................... but would wonder if she is really a she lol ermmmmm time will tell lol i have no idea how to tell obviously :-/but when i spoke to the owners i was told by the wife that as I had called him Henry.I better change it as he was a she ;D.hence the name Honey,...........who I might add now.....has gone walkabout's..............she took off yesterday morning at 7am and didnt return last night ,we have checked this morning at 7am and still no sign of her.............if she doesnt return then I really hope she made it home.
Guest Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Lets hope she does make it home Birdlady, (although in a way she may be better off with you!) its amazing they can be around for ages going missing for a while occassionly, then when the wind is right and the birds is right off they go! Had one years back, was a youngster, hung around for ages but eventually cleared and i got a message it had homed. Then one day a year or so on i was waiting for my race birds when one came diving in straight thru the traps, but half hour or so before mine were due. Went in loft saw it was not one of mine checked the ring, which looked familiar and lo and behold it was the same one! Gave it a drink and food and let it out and away it went! Must of just called in to say hello!!!
