Well looking at the stray rules hope rpra got nice big loft because if they not collected within 48hrs they arrange to get them sent to headquarters  ;D

saorry rpra will not pick up strays they will automaticle transfer  or leave it to you to sort out ask les when he comes on?

I understood the RPRA will arrange collection from non fanciers if birds not claimed in 48hrs and then the fancier concerned would have 2 Amtraks to pay, 1 to HQ  then 1 for return to them!

Serves them right!

When a 'Animal Rescue' bod, my name was with the local cop shop. Also Secs of clubs name - or and mine. You would be suprised how many times the public got hold of me via that means.

At one point I was getting 2 or 3 calls a week and had to get it stopped because at that point I was living where I couldn't have birds as no room for a loft but because I was sec the RPRA just kept giving my number out for about a 50mile radius!

They never bothered to ask if I minded!

You would also be suprised what little information the RPRA gain before passing on numbers, endless callers were asked if they'd caught the bird to which the answer was normaly "its on the roof"!

Plenty of room at the one loft site to look after them as they prob wouldn't get permission to put a loft at the Reddings and who will look after the birds when the offices are closed?

Think that the RPRA contact the Fed / Club secretary and they tell you to shift your *expletive removed* into gear.

Have know this on a few occassions, and quite rightly so!

Further regardless of excuses Any and ALL should, indeed must put themselves about to help any of the Public. A. If they are good enough to hold / care about the bird SO should the oqner.

B. in light of any adverse publicity, which the fancier might - and rightly so in my oppinion  - that may cast all and sundry in a bad light! We can well do without that!

If finnicial rreason, then that may be a pain, but someone, club or family will help out - usually.

it was taking in a stray that got me started with pigeons 12 months ago i found a bird that was in real ill health and i contacted the owner who said " kill the thing it is worth nothing to me if it doesn't make it home in time i have hundreds of birds" to which i replied do you mind if i keep the bird alive and well which i did and he was with us till the 1st hawk strike. but i know this man was in the minorioty as many guys on here take great pride in their birds and will travel length and breadth of the country to get a lost bird back
