overcrowding birds Blackpool

Reference to derogatory and insulting comments on this pigeon website, concerning my attendance at the Blackpool show 2010!

It has come to my attention a small number of individuals have took it upon themselves to make WILD accusations publicly over the internet, that I find deeply offensive! 1 of these being that I have tampered & removed rings from show racers in particular!

These pigeons were purchased in the last 2 years from a show racer fancier, who not wishing to show against his own birds, had either removed or de-faced the rings himself so as this couldn't happen! This is his own perogative as far as i'm concerned as the birds were his own property at the time! Should these accusations continue, then I shall be seeking legal advice against the person or persons concerned!

Also the tag "FEATHER MERCHANT" & I buy & sell on pigeon trader has also been said........MORE COMPLETE & UTTER RUBBISH! I have never used pigeon trader ever for either purpose, so do your research & get your FACTS RIGHT!!!!!

Now the main accusation being the "welfare of my pigeons".

I put a collossal amount of time, money & effort into keeping my pigeons in excellent condition and good health, as anyone who knows me personally will tell you!

The fact I keep a lot of pigeons is as far as I am concerned MY BUSINESS & MY BUSINESS ONLY!!!

I am a pigeon fancier who loves his hobby, who simply tried to meet demand this year at Blackpool, with various breeds of birds or birds that were ordered or asked for!

At NO time for the whole of the show were any & I mean without exception, any of my birds without water or food in front of them at all times! The birds were not left in individual boxes for the duration but placed in crates (LARGE racing crates) & were constantly being moved, to prevent birds from overheating!

It is not to my advantage to look after birds all year round, then abuse them for 2 days at the show!

These individuals clearly have absolutely no idea at all what time & effort goes into preparing & setting up all our stalls to provide the show that everyone looks forward to!

Perhaps these individuals should have spoken to me about these concerns in a gentlemanly fashion, to which I would have been more than happy to discuss their concerns in a civil manner, instead of them running home & HIDING BEHIND THEIR LAPTOPS!!!!

These self appointed officials should perhaps, if they don't want to talk to me about their concerns, then talk to the proper show officials & bring them to my stand, as I have absolutely nothing to hide whatsoever!!

Did any of you extremely concerned fanciers even bother to count how many birds were in my crates.......CLEARLY NOT or do you have trouble counting to 10 as not 1 of you have mentioned a number!!!

Before you label all my birds rubbish, you should try doing some research, as 2 years ago I bred & entered the R.P.R.A one loft ACE PIGEON & this year another bird of mine, not only won the R.P.R.A one loft race from Lessay by approximately 8 minutes but also topped the Severn Valley Federation at the same time! That's against some of the best lofts in the country so again try some research before you shoot your mouths off, which is something your all very good at on this forum!!!

Whilst I take it most or all of you concerned fanciers are racing men perhaps you should consider your birds in full up transporters on a hot sunny day in the middle of summer, in their thousands, only getting water & food when the lorry stops, whilst you sit back enjoying your cold beers, before you start accusing me of cruelty & inconsiderate behaviour towards my own pigeons!!

Perhaps you should ask yourselves what's the problem between my birds being in crates for 1 weekend of the year, whilst your birds are crated every weekend for racing!!!!!!

Quite frankly this all STINKS of hypocrisy, never mind pigeon droppings! Perhaps that's what the smell was, that the lady detected on my stands........"HYPOCRITS".

Reference has been made to lots of pigeons being sold, what the hell do you lot think i'm up there for, after spending alot of money for my pitch OR do I smell alot of GREEN EYED MONSTERS on & around my stand! Maybe the lady in question could smell them also!!!

I thought the idea of going to the Blackpool show was to look at various birds & products NOT run around playing detectives on fellow fanciers or are some of you, wanna-be police officers??

Perhaps you should leave all that to the proper officials & just enjoy your weekend!

Many thanks to Tumley Lofts for their comments about last years show! I did wonder how they managed to water & feed their birds that they left in carrying boxes behind their stands til at least Sunday morning! PERHAPS PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULDN'T THROW STONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year when we were next to them, as they have mentioned we were extremely busy, as we were this year, SURELY not sour grapes!!!! ( No offence meant of course, like yourselves)

Also to the gent who says he will let our pigeons out next year, we'll see how far he gets with that one, won't we!!!!!!!!!!

KIRKY, next year I will be back with a lot of beautiful yellow kirkpatricks & chocolates all bred by myself.......please don't attempt to buy any as you are NOT welcome on my stand, after your unjustified comments about my birds in show pens!!

To the lady who claims I told you to "f off", I can only imagine it was either your husband, partner or someone close to you that was being extremely rude to me at the time & the comment would have been directed at him, certainly not at you as that is NOT in my nature!

Finally to you ALL...........it's SIMPLE.......if you don't like my birds just don't buy them!

Perhaps next year I will try selling some girly handbags & high-heeled shoes as I feel these products may be better suited for some of you!!! Who knows, I may even throw in some lipstick!!!

This will be my one & only response to your comments so have a pleasant evening & enjoy your witch hunt!!!!!!!!!!!

Look forward to seeing you all next year.

Wrong!  In the same way that a car's registered keeper is not neccessarily the owner, a ring registered to an individual, does not confer ownership of that bird to the person so named.  As far as pigeon races are concerned, bear in mind it is the ring which competes in a race, not the bird.

I hope D & T read this but I didn't mean to cause offense but air my concern of my own opinion but at least I didn't lie! In the 26 years of being a stud and approx. 20 years of attending the Blackpool show (Dads been a pigeon fanciers since the late 40's!) we/I have never had pigeons boxed under our stand! When we have our biggest stand we can hold 90 pigeons on display at once. We always make sure, as with this year, that we bring more spaces than pigeons! I have not commented on your stand this year as I did not see it so keeping my facts accurate! I have taken great offense to this comment and would like an apology even if it is a pm! This is why I don't like making comments often as they can soon turn sour and it has taken a long time and a lot of effort over many years to build, what I think we have, a good reputation and comments like that (which aren't true) can ruin all of that!

Absolute and unadulterated rubbish

Wrong! I think you mean absolute and unadulterated fact!

RPRA Rules 93 - 96.  As long as you have proof of ownership, the bird is yours regardless of to whom the ring is registered.  For example, if you buy a bird, and get a valid receipt conferring ownership, the bird is yours from that point.  You may not register the ring for another 6 months, but the bird remains your property during that time.  If, however, you want to enter that bird in a show or race, the bird must be owned by you, and the ring must be registered in your name!

This is the reply I have received from Mr Bills RPRA to my email

Thank you for the message.

The Stand owner was spoken to by a senior member of the RPRA at the weekend

and matters rectified. Further action will be taken if necessary.

So if "matters were rectified" it means to me that all was not in order.

I believe we are speaking about birds which are unrung. These cannot be tied to a sale of any kind and ownership cannot be proven. This also applies rings which have been tampered with. They are invalid.

Once again rubbish from yourself.

Please do not cloud the issue any further.

Thanks in anticipation
