Guest ljb107 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I had pm disscusions with him last year and since then he seems to be keeping a low profile! maybe just busy? normally is.
pjc Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Well if you speak to him maybe he would like to come on and tell of his connection or exactly who D&T are etc and if he has no connection I will willingly openly appologise!
tjloft Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I spoke to him at show and asked why so many, he said last year he had run out before end of show so wasnt making that mistake again. I was surprised A with the condition and B the prices he was charging.
Guest blythy1 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 if the stall is there next year every1 of us should report them and keep reporting them till some thing gets done. i thought it was a disgrace and they should never keep birds if they cant look after them. > > >
Guest Owen Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Well lads this a message for the Guy concerned. I hope he is reading this. Unfortunatley I could not go to Blackpool this year so I have no idea what he was doing. But if he does anythng like is being described here next year, I will let the birds out. And it will be quite an interesting time if he tries to get in my way.
owen101 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 is this the man that had unrung white rapidos and about 20 crates full packed of diff breeds
pjc Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 is this the man that had unrung white rapidos and about 20 crates full packed of diff breeds yes
mealybug Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I think we should all write to the RPRA and complain, if enough of us do it they will have to take notice.
Guest blythy1 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 is this the man that had unrung white rapidos and about 20 crates full packed of diff breeds thats the one mate.
owen101 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 i did not think there was any quality there at all i found it to be cruel as they were packed in too much
Guest WINGS 04 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 i seen it and the where selling them faster then they could put them in the pens so if ppl are going to pay him then he will just keep bring them for me it was not a problem as they are his birds but i would not have bought any off him
Mealy Cock Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 What I saw was a lot of studs with birds in cages without any water; I only handled one bird off a top pairing They wanted £280, needless to say "not impressed" saying that, the bird was in good condition. The show was sadly lacking in ventilation, being a past sufferer of pigeon lung it did not go down well with me. I had not been to the Blackpool show for a good many years, I won't be going back in a hurry. For those fanciers who witnessed poorly treated birds I will say; please write to the RPRA with your concerns with the threat that if you witness such goings on agian the RSPCA will be Immediately be contacted This should have the desired affect
owen101 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 i must say there were a few studs people selling pigeons badly treated but i must say the pigeon that stood out mostly was frank taskers grizzle on the left had side at his stall and alsothe soderlund ones
Guest Owen Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I did not go to Blackpool this year so I did not see the pigeons crammed into the the stinking baskets. But it is enough that a lot of people on here have seen and reported it. It is my opinion that we, as a sport, can not afford to allow these things to happen. And I feel sure that it is not only Pigeon Fanciers who go to the Show or, for that matter, read this Forum. And it is the resposiblity of the RPRA to ensure that this sort of thing can not happen. I telephoned David Bils and asked if he knew about the situation and what, if anything, had been done about it. He said that the Guy, in charge of the stand concerned, had been spoken to by someone very senior and that he had improved his treatment of the birds thereafter. And he had been warned that he should not behave in that way again. David Bils made the point that there were thousands of birds at the show, the vast majority of which were treated properly. And we should not be surprised if there was the odd event such as this. My own opinion is that, as responses go, that was about as weak as you can go. I believe that the Stall Holder should have been sent packing. We simply can not afford to allow ourselves to be associated with ill treatment of pigeons. And the idea of offering birds for sale with damaged rings must surely be illegal. Further than that, if it was thought that the rings had been deliberately damaged it could be argued that it was a Police matter. Just think how we all feel when we hear thar birds have been stolen? And in a case like this we have to wonder why anyone would deliberately damage rings. So there you have it. It will be for the Fanciers who have seen this sort of thing to make up their minds whether this is acceptable behaviour and whether the approach of the people in charge was enough.
swilcox Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Lets all be honest here we are our own worst enemies, if we fund these people they will keep selling, if everyone insisted on a standard both in selling, auctioneering, breeding, showing then these guys would be found out. I stood next to a stand on the saturday morning, i was stood there with 3 of the the best fanciers in Holland and they were laughing because they just couldnt believe that people would buy pigeons from this guy esp considering the condition they were in, he again was a none fancier!!!!
OLDYELLOW Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 hes smelt the colour of money when selling that amount of birds and breeding that many the quality of husbandry and birds certainly will be effected , top lofts never have that many birds to spare and usualy have a waiting list so that many birds would never be available even with a loft full of feeders feel sorry fer neighbours must have a stack of lofts :-/
p charlton Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 other than studs and people selling a few late breeds or packing in knowone is going to sell there good stuff this time of year
DOVEScot Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 It's a double edged sword, the stall holder will be trying to recoup his £1000 for his stall and the organisers will be trying to get as many £1000 stalls as they can. Once the organisers make their break point all other income is profit and they will just be happy to rake it in as long as they can. That stall was the worst of the worst but even studs like Louella had birds under hot strip lighting gasping for air and nothing in the drinkers if they had any at all. Even humans were gasping for air in some halls, is this a new thing or what has been happening for years, I think not :-/

badgeman Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I have bought birds from this man over a lot of years as have hundreds of others and never had an ill one , i can vouch for how he treats his birds with nothing but kindness , yes i know him but i was accused of being the seller i think ,which is a different thing , i will back this man all the way if needs be , i can trust him not to stab me in the back when i turn round ? unlike you i wouldnt trust you as far as i could throw you ,i remember not long ago you were in contact with me lokking for birds from the same seller ? , how the world changes . i have definately changed my opinion of some contributers to this post making a judgement of a person that they dont know or even met but there ya go thats pigeon fanciers for you ,thank god not all fanciers are the same , keep your green eyes peeled PJC ,
