juliejay Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 I live in West sussex and there has been a ringed pigeon on our neighbours shed all day yesterday. Today it is in our garden - should I give it some wild bird seed and how can I contact its owner? Julie 07833528272
cottage lofts Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 post on here the ring number and the owner can be found cheers jon
juliejay Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 I can see a black ring with a phone number - but I don't want to scare the pigeon - how should I approach it please.
cottage lofts Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 if its the shed it should be easy to catch just walk up to it calmly and grab it it probably wont fight much as its tired... do you know how to handle a pigeon..
cottage lofts Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 if its on the shed try opening the shed door and let it walk in put some seed on the floor in front of the door once its down feeding walk upto the pigeon & it should walk through the door. jon
juliejay Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Many thanks for your advice. I have been able to call the owner and now the pigeon is safe with some food and water. The owner thinks it should make the journey home in a couple of days. So I will keep it safe until it is recovered. Julie
pjc Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 how old is the bird and how far has it got to go to get home?
Roland Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 if its on the shed try opening the shed door and let it walk in put some seed on the floor in front of the door once its down feeding walk upto the pigeon & it should walk through the door. jonLOL ;D ;D ;) So of course one thinks everyone has SEED incase a pigeon comes a calling. Knew a farmer that bought me a pigeon (Flown out) because he was at a loss what to feed it! then said that 'Pigeons were a nuisance and always eating his corn in the shed...

Julie Sorry but given this is a non fancier, I think the owner should be sending for it, not leaving it for a few days.
