    Wind Farms

Yep'i am hearing two sides to the story and it's not all bad. I know the turbines of a few years ago are much noisier than the ones today are. 10 mile is a fair bit away, but i would be interested to hear of anybody living around 2kilometer's away and the affects they are experiencing if any? I have heard of them being described as bird chompers!!Would this of come from a fancier i wonder? David

    Any One Know

Yes mate Rest assured ,Ray barrington races from the dark isle and by all accounts flys a long way from the beaten track. I had a youngster here that belonged to him and was a flyaway.. Does he not race Mike ganus Grizzles crossed with the westcott's..?? I had a look for his contact details but have lost them..Keep trying as Someone may know from the forum. Cheers David

My sentiments exactly.very well done. David
  15. I race pouw 22's pigeons. most of the time i cross them but depending on the lines i keep them as i have them. I also race Louella pouw pigeons(from purchased stock birds) It was an interesting observation from Pouw22 last week that all the for sale Louella pouw stock are 99% of the time slatey's. Any i have are slatey red's or slatey blues. This is for louella's shop window value no doubt.Very well bred they are though! I have raced the progeny as yearlings last year and was more than happy getting them here in what i see as a fair race time...I will do better!! The youngters this year from both sources and all naturals have done well also. I had 26 trainers to 30 miles and dropped one and in 3 races (stopped at 3races) i dropped a further 6 and 4 of this 6 were second day birds. All in all not bad.I bred 47 to race.I am left with a good few for next time.( there are vandenabeeles amongst these also) I think louella's stock are the way to go if you're intersted but in all honesty i have never thought about buying youngsters from louella. Pouw22.(.Phil )is a mine of sensible honest information and i strongly would advise you to have a chat with him if intersted in the Jennssen lines .. He's interesting to listen to. Top bombing for 2012 David
  16. Dave mate. The owner new of the liquidation a week ago and failed to inform staff until the authority's walked in this morning.. David
  17. I had asked the driver and he said no information has been given to owners or the necessary authorities regarding the birds welfare. I am very lucky he brought mine home as he only lives 9 miles away and felt he had a moral duty to return them as he was the pick up driver Awful! David
  18. Disaster Alan.. just a mind blowing disaster. DAVID
  19. Hi Forum Members I sent 4 pigeons with SPDS this morning heading to Devon via uk pigeon couriers. I have just had SPDS driver return my pigeons now nearly 8pm to my door. He informs me that because he lived local to me he has kindly out of a gesture of good will returned them to me as i was his customer I thought this was nice of the guy.!!He tells me as from early mid morning SPDS has gone into liquidation. He also states that over 40 pigeons are left in the Aberdeen depot .in carry boxes. I sincerely hope all owners of these birds will be informed .The driver explained to me nobody is in this depot and doors are all locked up including the pigeons, many of them youngsters I am not sure if this topic has been covered today but nothing wrong with retelling the sad news of this reliable pigeon courier. Thanks all and good luck to all the pigeons in the depot DAVID

Hi Mate. Dont worry.I am going to the old comrades show and will drop them of to you.I will keep them for you no probs..(November) When you mention Kennethmont you are as well talking about Kenneth Mckellar..I just say Huntly.. For an englishman to venture up here into this wilderness he would be taking his life in his hands anyway. They are still celebrating Banockburn up here. No stress. David

    Ayr Dam Park

I remember Big Jim Mclymont from Stranraer paying £120 for a kirkpatrick hen at the auctions and that was a lot of money then. Well !! he came out of the show stumbled across the road to the train station, pished out of his mind and dropped the box with her in...The hen flew onto the station roof and he never got her back or ever saw her again..Those were the days and about 32 years ago. What a laugh on the train on the way home.He was a sick man when he woke up in the morning i can tell you. I think big Jim still flys a doo in the toon.!.Happy days right enough. David
