  2. VAN-VERMINE-EX ............................. This liquid comes in a bottle and is manufactured by VanHee. It eradicates the loft of Ticks, mites, wasps, lice, mosquitos, moths, and all types of flys . I am plagued by humidity around my loft and flys of all discriptions come with these conditions so i tried this product and never in two seasons have i seen a fly inside my loft ...This to me was a miracle as my loft held swarms of flys Previous .. the wife even tried it inside the greenhouse and it worked in there also I call it the magic potion . It is very potent stuff and there are strict guidelines for use but at around £9.00 a bottle it is well worth the investment ... you can only but try and see.. DAVID
  3. Hi Tony c. Did not know that heavy training would slow them down ..you did not mention those blood quills that appear and look sore just as the sheath breaks ? Would you train then ?? I must say that my young ones are well apart from these quills bursting ,they just sit on the loft until the rest trap and then go in .. A local fancier says it,s down to my feeding when the quills delay in letting the feather break through cleanly .Do you think this right??.. He does say also he races right up to the 9th flight as long as the time is just before the tenth one is falling .. Thank you for your kind replys DAVID
  4. Hello all, I have a couple of youngsters cracking their 4th and 5th flight ,these birds stopped exercising around the loft so upon observation of these birds this is what it was .... Question)= please can the forum members advise me if it would still be ok to continue training these birds if even to 15 mile ??also is it gospel that the 8th 9th 10th flights should prohibit the fancier racing them.. Thanks all.. DAVE
  5. Hi ,There are better men than me to answear this one also, but last season took eggs away from pair after second one laid and put dummys under that pair, later i used these real eggs as dummys as i had a lack of real dummys , These eggs were put in a jug and laid there for around a month ....you guessed it ? one of these eggs hatched .. (your question )... I have been advised that if you keep eggs at room temp in a cloth but turn them every day then when you use them they should hatch ..the imponderables do happen as with me, but they are one offs . Keeping these eggs before putting them under a pair i would suggest around three weeks to a month to be safe but believe much longer times have been achieved ,if there is a serious fluctuation in storage temp then eggs will not hatch... i have not tried this but It,s worth a go .I wouldn,t like to bet my dog on it .. Good luck! DAVID
  6. Thanks all for the sound advice . IB, thats great to know that my birds don't need loads of distance tosses ,this gives me the confidence i was looking for, and the birds. ...Nice one and thank you all once again .... DAVE
  7. Hi all,. Hope some one can give me advice please . My Youngsters were going great in training with around a dozen twelve mile tosses so far ..i was going to toss in stages of 12 miles ( this works for me ) but yesterday i had a hawk go through them flying above the loft ...carnage!! All young birds hit the moon and everywhere else and did not return .The last bird returned today and judged myself lucky not to loose any .. I have a young one being sick and a few going down as well with dodgy symptoms( hunched up shivering type of thing) My question is 'how long after this event can i start training again and how far is it possible to jump them as they have not raced as yet and i guess i will miss a couple of races . I will say, i am fasting them for a couple of days starting again with a light feed in the morning . Thanks all. DAVE

I have got a tub and to be honest dont know if my pigeons will ever use this stuff ...looks totaly unappetizing and smells like 3 in 1 oil.. 16. I have one or two birds i bought for stock a couple of seasons ago from jak jak that i am giving away free to novices or new starters .. I have raced the youngsters last season from these birds and they more than held their own in my club .This year i raced them as yearlings and they came superbly in the harsh east winds up to 300 miles ,i took awards in club early races and they held their own in the longer races .I will be keeping these yearlings as my next years two year olds and producers....the birds i am giving away are a couple of jensenns ,(cocks ) a starview buschart cock bird ,a roland jennsen cock ,and a jennsen hen ...two more hens i had for these cocks were killed by sparrowhawks early on in the year ...i have in the nest also 4 crossed vandenbeeles that were bred from the above birds ...these are about a week old and also free to interested novices . ....the stock came from graeme warman and formula one lofts . I raced these crosses this year and they as well did great ...i may add that this is my first year racing old birds ...please get back if you would like to know anything or are interested .I will say again these birds are free and would be superb for a starter ..they were for me . Thanks DAVID
