  1. couldnt believe my luck this morning... little blue hen home at 07.22am she was bred by Jose J.Deniz Cabrera, and i got her from the activation list... my attention was drew this blue hen 'Flecha' as she seemed to show some form of consistency from the four previous training races, improving all the time... 240th; 183rd; 105th; 64th so yip, delighted to still have three in the contest, would be great to see franks bird home and that would be all Scottish contender still in the comp
  2. i suggested this today on the derby arona site, they had 198 pigeons unactivated... use them?
  3. ye bit of a tough race, 19 pigeons home yesterday... 153 total tonight, i reckon 40-50 tomorrow. very happy to say that two of my entries made it home today, 75th and 112th... it is gutting waiting on them coz at that point you are out the competition, but when you get one great feeling. yes these races are all about money lads, that is why they were created... and that is why we enter, Derby Arona openly admit it is the hardest pigeon racing in the world! unfortunately the young birds had the falcon problem to contend with as well as being there first time racing from another island, so very much bad luck! however the show must go and any amount of winging or critisism wont bring the birds back, over next couple days lets hope some more make it home, after which we must move on and put it behind us. the organisers of this race put a lot of effort and time into this competition, the set up is beautiful, website and live TV second to none... still enjoyable to sit and watch the birds pitch in today. hopefully tomorrow the 200 barrier can be broke, and all fanciers get at least an entrant home... good luck in the morning
  4. HOT SPOT RACE ONE will now be flown 4th February 2011 from the island of Gran Canaria... good luck everyone!
  5. still some cracking pigeons up for grabs which still remain unactivated... activation ends tomorrow at 2.00pm
  6. most clubs i've been in fees etc usually due before 1st march, if somebody hasnt paid up by racing starts then ususlly there pigeons are refused... never seen anyone yet being suspended, but then again memebers are being suspended for less these days...
  7. cheers bud, good to meet you at Blackpool...
  8. lot.28... £150 Thanks >>>>Ian
  9. well done Frank, another scottish contender...
  10. there are currently 288 pigeons up for sale on the derby arona website, that have been unactivated by there memebers... good chance for somebody to jump in there???
  11. had a new loft from Barnsley last year, cant fault and would recommend... i was very impressed with the loft on display by Tranter Lofts at Blackpool last week end, every bit as good as a Petron...
  12. no probs Robbie, that would be great... once the weather turns for the better i'll get in touch Brian, these pigeons all sold out before 12 o'clock on the saturday, 70+. they would grace anybodys loft whether it be racing or showing, Bob used to show them many moons ago and took top awards at Blackpool, etc...
  13. hi robbie... met Bob once at Bob Whyte house when i was up collecting some pigeons, same week end Gary Inkley was up visiting Bob McDonald... i remember when i was a lad at Blackpool the Bob McDonald pigeons always made my jaw drop, now over 20 years later the effect was much the same when i saw them at the weekend, only a master breeder of racing pigeons can maintain that quality in a family of pigeons all these years later... say hi to Bob for me, would be good to pop up sometime and see this wonderful family of pigeons!
  14. Lot.28... £120 Thanks >>>>>>>>>Ian
  15. thanks lads... be interesting to see how the Hot Spots go and how the pigeons cope with these races, 3 brand new motor cars plus great prize money... then the grand finale, mega bucks!!! just lets hope something has the heart and courage to contend with what lays ahead... watch this space!
  16. we will certainly be trying right to the bitter end lets hope...
  17. Lot.28... £100 Thanks>>>>Ian
  18. not been on lately, bit under the weather last week with a virus... then blackpool at week end, fully recovered from both so onwards and upwards! The second Sea Training Race was a screamer with great returns! My first 8 entries all home in good time once again, happy with the steadiness of these eight YB's... then we have 'Tayside Tornado', late as usual... Davie Baldie from St.Andrews has renamed him the Lone Ranger. lets hope he comes on his own from the final, and first through the trap eh!!! well tonight i have activated all my entries, so no turning back now... everything is crossed!!!
  19. in the winter gardens bob macdonalds birds outstripped anything i seen, and over 70 birds sold by saturday dinner time speaks for itself... class and condition!
  20. see you there...
  21. Almost full returns yesterday, but to give fanciers an indication of how tough it is out there, nearly 500 pigeons have been lost already... Once the Hot Spots start then the wheat will be sorted from the chaff... good money though with the possibility of winning new motor cars
  22. have a meeting each year in a different section, keep everybody happy then...
