Human consumption ones are better but more expensive, we feed wild bird ones the same as ones from the petshops and have had no problems, Chickadee splits them and if the are bad bins them. You still get bad ones in the human consumption ones

Our doves in the cotes that are understandably free flying, come down as soon as Chickadee goes out the door and land on her looking for peanuts, they don't with me and the kids, they know the difference

Definately, they will have to get used to you and their new surroundings. Chickadee spends the most time in the loft and when she goes in the birds ignore her or land on her, when I go in they are different, maybe because I don't feed them :-/
