many thanks to both of you. i have to say though that i did try bagladylofts and found nothing. thanks anyway rose it was a nice gesture

i am trying to help this non fancier and i have to say that after a lifetime in pigeons i am currently feeling ashamed to call myself a fancier. i love a laugh just as much as the next person but most of these comments belong in a gutter
-
Hi. Sorry to be a pain but does anyone know of a chatroom for pigeons
-
many thanks to all who hav replied but maybe my mesage ws not that clear as although i have just restarted i am certainly not a novice. the few pigeons that ihave are bred for the distance and i hae been sending them inclub races. however i work most weekends and do not really want to pay £120 subs per year just to let them come home and let themselves in. iam quite a hard taskmaster and actually suprised myself that i haveo many left even out of10! i shoud ad that i have one little coppennolle hen whaich i already have confidence in flying palamos in two years time.

THANK GOODNESS I'M NOT A COMPLETE NEW STARTER AS I AM UNDERWHELMED AT THE ADVICE AND HELP
-
i restarted with ybs this season. only 10 but i still have 6 left. i want to compete in the longer races as i am unable to clock most weeks. is it possible to do this without club racing as it is so expensive. remember i live in cornwall too
-
pleased to see that most of the suggestions on here are constructive. at the end of the day noone will ever please everyone
-
although there are some things about it that i do not agree with i.e. clocking too many pigeons in club races i have given it an overwhelming yes. to be honest i only restarted with yb's this year and i'm alredy on the verge of packing up. working in retail means my weekends off are rare and this was to be my only chance to clock in this season. saturday was a wash out but i could of lived with that - a holdover would of done but instead our pigeons were brought home on saturday and today has been superb flying weather. we would of had winning velocities around the 1200 mark and i feel robbed. i know ets would not of altered this week but at least it would of meant my pigeons were timed at the other races and not just sent

if you could possibly leave a contact number or e-mail address i will try and get someone from tiverton to help you tomorrow
-
leading pigeons in section e so far. 2070 ypm
-
genuinely not sure what to think at the moment as my own pigeons were in superb condition whan i fetched them back and flew for half an hour even though it was 7 pm and they were hungry. mygut feeling is that is was an excuse to bring them home and we should of waited until tomorrow but i'll sleep on it
-
find someone who has a tried and tested method then adapt it to suit you and your time
-
well our own pigeons are being brought home from yelverton. apparently the pigeons are getting wet in the transporter! doesn't bode well for the future as it means there's a lot of work to be done this winter or the cornish combine needs a new transporter as we can't have them brought back every time it rains
-
i totally agree that licenses are given out far too easily but you cannot expect to pay people peanuts. most convoyers i have met are very conscientious and do a good job but i think everyone should take a turn at spending 24 hours with them to realise what it is like
-
SORRY MICK BUT IT IS ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL AND WE'RE AT YELVERTON TOO
-
ANY ONE HAD RETURNS YET? WE'RE ONLY AT 56 MILES BUT STILL NO LIB AND NOT LOOKING GOOD. TYPICAL AS IT'S THE FIRST SATURDAY I'VE HAD OFF
-
AT LEAST YOU ARE HONEST ABOUT IT BUT PERSONALLY I THINK IT IS TOO MUCH TO LAY THE BLAME AT ONE PERSON. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE RACE CONTROLLER SHOULD BE THE CONVOYER. HE SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO RINGS FOR LINE OF FLIGHT CONDITIONS AND HAVE SOLE CONTROL OF ANY DECISIONS. AT THE END OF THE DAY HE IS ALSO THE ONE WHO HAS TO FACE THE FANCIERS EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT. PERHAPS THE WAY FORWARD IS PAY HIM A SET AMOUNT PER PIGEON AND GIVE HIM SOLE RESPONSIBILITY. THAT WAY THE MORE PIGEONS HE GETS ON THE TRANSPORTER THE BETTER OFF HE IS
-
I SHOULD POINT OUT THAT I AM NEITHER A CONVOYER OR RACE CONTROLLER I JUST BELIEVE THEY GET A ROUGH DEAL FROM THE REST OF US WHO CAN DECIDE WETHER OR NOT DECISIONS WERE GOOD OR BAD AFTER THE RACE!
-
with all the talk of losses and bad liberations i wonder just how many of us have sat down and actually thought about how mych our convoyers and race controllers actually get paid? to begin with i am pretty sure that most controllers do the job foc and believe me it's not a pleasant one. I'm guessing that the average convoyer gets about £100 per race. not bad for a days work you may think. think again. they generally set off around tea time on friday and are then working for somewhare in the region of 24 hours till they get back again. that equates to about £4.20 per hour!! have a think and let me know how much you would want for the same job.
-
cornish combine are at wincanton. we only have two races left and this is the first one i shall actually be able to clock in so i'm looking forward to it
-
3 out of 3 yesterday. dead chuffed even though it was only 104 miles
-
anyone forward planning despite their losses.after all it is no good worrying about the ones tht are missing
-
i may be an old stager in ths game but i have lways believed that they need a race or two. however as i am restaring with only 4 ybs left out of 10 i shall introduce some latebreds and they will have to fly
-
i don't believe there are any hard and fast rules on this subject but what i can say is that my experience has been that it has always been beneficial to race them in their year of birth
-
we can all go on about all the heavy losses but at the end of the day what we reaally need to know is what we can do about stopping the losses as far as i can see there is no common factor so we have to look closely at our management
