  1. Happy birthday Davie.
  2. Good morning all.
  3. Good morning all.
  4. Looking good John. Where did the sun come from?
  5. IPPR done it for a short time. It was organised by Alan Baker. They had parameters for joining and a draw was made. You swapped with your draw partner. Something similar could be done to allow fanciers of a level to swap within their own level in attempting to improve to a higher level. I very much doubt that a National flier would want one of my pigeons, even though they came from other National fliers in the first place.
  6. Lot 18 from Jim Hannah has been added.
  7. Looking good John.
  8. What size are the metal ones, Derek?
  9. Good morning all.
  10. Personally Steven, I think it is the small flies that inhabit some lofts and they get into the pigeon feathers, bite the pigeons, stressing them during the night, lay their eggs and rapidly multiply. They are not much larger than midgies. I have heard them referred to as pigeon mosquitoes when fanciers were talking about that subject some time back. Not so much the lice and mite, however, they also bite the pigeons, so who knows how the infection enters the pigeons' system. I use Ardap spray. i don't know what Kevin uses.
  11. In his 4th book, The Pigeon Racer, Old Hand looks at weight. It is, of course, extremely important. This is why we look for bouyant birds. Chapter 4 and 5 are the relevant chapters. He kept records to find the ideal weight for his individual pigeons. This was to find their winning weight. Although a lot of his thoughts may now be dated, some were very much ahead of their time and are still relevant.
  12. Both her and her YB's are looking good like all the others John.
  13. Good to know I've at last managed to join an elite group.
  14. Happy birthday.
  15. Good morning all.
  16. The one recommended to me by Owen was Ardap. It is a contact insecticide. You spray it onto surfaces and it remains to kill the insects on contact. It requires to be used at regular intervals to ensure its viability. It certainly rid my loft of flies and moths, etc.
  17. I am not one of the two, but I used it last year after recommendation from Owen. I don'r race my YB's and had never noticed any major effects as described by others. Perhaps not the best example, but nevertheless, one of the users of this spray within my loft to keep down the instances of intrusion by flies and other insects.
  18. Happy birthday.
  19. Looking great John.
  20. Well done Ally.
  21. Well done John. Your pigeons look a treat on your blog and these YB's reflect the same. Hopefully they will do a turn for you Ally. Best of luck this racing season.
