  1. Come on Andy start saving up then you can tell us all what its like since it seems no one has been ;D ;D ;D
  2. I know John,he only lives about 20 minutes from me and he has spent years writing this book, every time I used to bump into him he was still writing it.Tam and I read it the other week and we thought it was a great book.
  3. Have any members ever sent a bird to this race or just being to soak up the atmosphere?.Seems a great way to combine a favourite hobby with a nice break in the sun, would be nice to hear your experiences.
  4. Hi we live between stockport and Buxton in the High Peak which is less than an hour from manchester, sheffield,Warrington. Anyone would be most welcome to pick their own, although most of the lavenders have gone, its nice to meet people and be assured that the birds are going to good homes
  5. No the birds are all fine, the photos were actually taken in may but we lost them, plus as you can probably tell we arent very good at taking pictures, most of them have their eyes shut and they had been in a basket on a hot day,the bird you are talking about actually won his class at Bakewell show on august the 6th and is no longer for sale but we do have a couple of other blue cocks for sale, just wish we were better with the camera
  6. We still have a few show racers for sale, this is purely as we need the space now that we have the americans too and obviously as we now have alot more racing pigeons.Over the last 10 years or so I have put alot of work into the show racers and I don't want that to be entirely wasted as they have now had some decent wins so half a dozen pairs will be retained but the rest need to go,you can't keep everything there just isn't room. Anyone who is interested can pm either myself or Tammy_1 and we will hopefully be able to sort out a pair or 2 to suit, several colours available. All the birds are up to date for worms, canker and vaccinated, most have been shown this year and we know a good courier should you not be able to call in person
  7. Hopefully should be a happy ending then and thanks for the offer,my little favourite is still out there somewhere from saturdays race :'(,why is it always your favourite thats the only one not back
  8. I have just left an answer phone message on the above number saying we can pick the bird up tomorrow, and why not, whats another hour driving birds around, its all i seem to do anyway, more the merrier i say ;D ;D ;D
  9. Would the white busschaert be the one we have seen pics of before,if so you should show him!!,he is by far the best looking white racer we have ever seen,a fantastic head on him.
  10. Well done Jimmy, the 2 ybs we have from you are absolutely beautiful, hopefully they will show well too,but don't tell the other half
  11. Thanks guys, its our training route, just trying to decide weather to take them or not today weather wise, sorry Pete, didnt realise you were so close to Stoke,we could have popped round for tea and biscuits ;D
  12. I think you will find that you have read my post incorrectly,I see nothing wrong with a deep litter system managed correctly,it's just not for us,what I am against is people keeping filthy lofts and calling it deep litter,a deep litter bed requires work and managing correctly.
  13. Must be related to the silver hen we got from his partner a few years ago,she goes like a rocket round the loft, has lovely feathering though!! ;D ;D ;D
  14. Yes well done Mick and the kind lady who took him or her in
  15. Shavings are no use, they are too light and it all just ends up banked up the sides with a bare floor in the middle. We have all our birds on soft chip which is again used for horses,it's identical to easi bed but about £1 a bale cheaper,we still go round every day and pick the droppings off the top. Although we would never personally use a deep litter system a deep litter system managed correctly can work but this is not to be confused with deep poo ie the lazy fanciers method!! Some people say not cleaning out builds imunity,it just builds disease, how healthy would you be if you were locked in a shed with god knows how many other people sat in your own poo?
  16. Forgot to say our birds get every mineral/supplement and concoction known to man and they still prefer eating the breeze blocks in their avery
  17. Maybe the birds are ready to start training?,being taxed abit more mentally and physically?,once they start being trained away from the loft you generally find they stop messing about and just come straight back into the loft.
  18. Yes a red and a grizzle, although red is always dominant over blue and there are a thousand "formulas" for getting colours it doesn't always work that way and throw backs are common,at the moment we have a pair of american show racers who have thrown practically every colour there is,just waiting to see what comes out of the next pair of eggs they are sittinng on,it certainly makes it more interesting!
  19. No rain yet in our area [near Buxton,Derbyshire],but its gone quite dark so could be soon, quite windy too
  20. I think everyone should wear a mask,I do every day,I think otherwise even if you don't have any problems now you will eventually.
  21. Take no notice of them Mav,they are just men ;D,hope you get better soon
