  5. so sorry to hear of matts death remember back in the seventies getting a mealy squeeker stray of matts come into my loft 5 miles south of belfast. i reported it and matt said could keep it it was a lovely bird . every day when let out for exercise it would disapear and return late at night well flown i believed it was trying to return home. then it disappeared the next day matt phoned me and said the mealy had returned i transfered it back to him matt informed me later that the mealy had won 3 races and went on to fly from france on a number of times if his birds are still of that quality they should do very well in the sale my condolences to the family circle ticeye
  6. gareth your dad george should be able to tell you about skibbereen as he must have raced from there when he raced in n.ireland
  7. i have seen them attacking young birds that are only out on top of the loft grey back crows are another one to watch as for not worrying about hawks when you have mapies about do not fool yourself the hawk will still attack
  8. skibbereen can be a very easy race or very hard i race with the nipa and the infc 247 miles to my loft the east coast of n. ireland always does quite well in this race point although wexford does well in the infc national the wexford fanciers are short fliers but their birds must break from the convey as for raptors i think it does not matter what line of flight the birds take the hawks are there i think it would be a good race for the west of scotland but flying young birds 350 - 400 miles is a bit of an ordeal
  9. has anyone ever bought in birds or know of anybody who has done well with birds from the above breeders
