  6. Hi can anyone help me please i live in wolverhampton west midlands and have had a yb reported in ecclesfield sheffield by a non fancier, the pigeon is totally worn down and has dropped in at this gentlemans work place near junction 35 m1 (meadownhall shopping centre) I have asked the gentleman if i am able to arrange collection of this bird with a courier but it is hard explaining to a non fancier and he says he'd prefer not to do that and doesnt want to take it home, he did however say he would throw the bird back up to get back home i didnt want this doing as it is only a yb and has lost all its body weight etc etc are there any pigeon fanciers close by that would be so kind to collect the bird from this gentleman take it back home care for it until i can arrange collection from a courier. Please let me know asap as the gentleman doesnt want it leaving there all week Many many thanks Ann :-/ 01902882638

  10. My personal opinion on the best grit and minerals you could possibly use are the following: SEAWEED, REDSTONE GRIT, PINK MINERALS AND A GOOD GRIT COMBO - MATRIX IS ALSO A VERY GOOD MIXTURE OF GRIT PICKIN BLOCKS ARE BRILLIANT AND I REALLY RECOMMEND THE PICKING BLOCKS FROM NATURAL AS FOR THE FIELDING SITUATION I HAVE SPOKEN TO A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF MINE, AND AN EXCEPTIONAL FLYER HERE IN THE MIDLANDS AND HIS ADVISE IS: GET SOME SOIL, AND SPRINKLE A LITTLE IN EACH OF THE BOXES THIS MAY SEEM AS IF YOU ARE DEFEATING THE OBJECT AS THEY ARE STILL PICKIN AT '''DIRTY'' SOIL BUT ATLEAST IF ITS THERE FOR THEM IN THE LOFT AND THEY KNOW ITS THERE THEY WON'T HAVE IT IN THEIR HEADS THEY HAVE TO GO LOOKING FOR IT IN FIELDS THE BIRDS SHOULD THEN BEGIN TO EXCERSISE AROUND HOME AT THE SAME TIME STILL LEAVE AVAILABLE THE GRIT AND MINERALS FOR THEM TO GET AT. ONCE THEY START EXCERSISING AROUND HOME AND YOU KNOW FOR SURE THEY ARE NO LONGER FIELDING GRADUALLY WEAN THEM FROM THE SOIL I.E WHEN CLEANING OUT THE LOFT TAKE A LITTLE AWAY AT A TIME. IF YOU HAVE GRIDS IN YOUR BOXES THEN PLACING THE SOIL UNDER THE GRIDS WOULD BE PERFECT AS THE BIRDS CANT CONSTANTLY PECK AWAY AT THE SOIL AND ALSO THEIR FEET DONT GET MESSY!
  11. I have a chq cock whom i bred in 1996 meaning he is 13 years old and he still fills his eggs but only take 1 round off him!
  12. i totally agree with rembrant2coo i dont believe that you thinking poppin pills in to the yb's mouths everytime they come back home is going to do the trick. Firstly yb's need encouragement to come home wheather it be from training, roaming or racing i.e encourage them with a little treat (food, peanuts etc) not by making them VOMIT! Spartakon IS for worming but it really isnt advisable in adminisitoring such a heavy dosage. You need to train these birds teaching them the routine - LOFT -- TRAINING POINT -- HOME -- FEED! Feed the birds lightly until you conquer this as if the birds are hungry they are not in a rush to get home. Put Lemon Juice on their corn Give the ybs plenty of grit and minerals this normally stops them fielding. I know this also sounds silly but give your ybs a little bit of fuss and make them feel really welcome at home, ybs are better in their loft when they feel more at home and contented. whatever you do dont flag the birds around the loft to train them. and make sure there is a full range of grits and minerals in the loft so they dont go fielding looking for these. Hope this help
  13. Hi, What are you feeding them on first of all? Try a splash of lemon Juice With Carr's Adherbs on their corn on Friday and Saturday I would also ask have you treated for canker and respiratory? Check to see if they have any slime in their mouths and throats and if they are gasping when they drop, even if the birds dont show any signs of slime in there mouths STILL treat them I can guarantee you if you treat them for respiratory for 5 days this will do the trick Dont forget once treated give your birds a vitamin supplement the day after the treatment ends Preferably you would need to start your treatment on a Friday until the following Wednesday (so this does mean missing a race), Thurday give the vitamins and Friday (day of basketing) give your birds fresh water Hope this helps let me know Reference: OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND WORKING IN A PIGEON PHARMACY ADVISING CUSTOMERS IF NEED HELP WITH THEIR BIRDS LOL!
