Sorry mike horses for courses, i totaly agree! I have developed one family from 300 mile pigeons for 300miles and a distance family around 500-600mile day pigeons. But im very lucky to have a partner such has Raymond Moleveld, he has the finest team of distance pigeon i have ever seen!!!!!!! P.S. Ive found a new star in Holland, his pigeons are the best middle distance pigeons, i have ever handled!!! he is the only guy who can beat Koopmans at the moment!! he is breeding winners for lots of people. Me and Raymond have ordered a round so it will be interesting to see what they are like but they are really good middle distance pigeons and priced to suit as well!!!!! Stuart Wilcox

Hello Mike For a good national team you need two types of pigeons one for Nantes and one for Pau, the Brinkmans are in the Pau team ofcoarse!!!!
-
I would go for the winners strain!!! I also have been slowly putting a team together for the 200-400mls races. I have selected pigeons that are either racers or children of racers that have won from that distance at National and Classic level. The funny thing is i didnt need to select on size or type as they were all the same stamp of pigeon! I was lucky that some were of similiar families, ie Janssen, Voets, Schellens and Van Den Abeele. I selected these from England, Belguim and Holland and i really did do my home work. Only time will tell if i got it right!!!! Stuart Wilcox P.S Goods that are grown by other and reeped by yourself will some pass and require replenishment, Grow your own fruit it tastes better, for longer and you know were it came from! (Everybody can be a strain creater) What i mean by the above statement is always look to your own pigeons, if you purchase carefully and let your new introduction grow and develop in your hands and show there true worth before superseeding them!!!

Dont let them out!!!!! All my channel winners spent a few days in the loft before they went!!!! Stuart

Hello Dermot I have a close friend in Germany called Mr Pieper, he is a super fancier and i will ask him if there is any of these birds around or if he knows anyone who is up the order in the waiting list! Stuart

Learn your lessons and make your mistakes with these birds, get your loft right and a sensible system! Write everything down and listen to them that are honest. After that you may be ready to invest in the best and know you will be able to get the best from them!! Stuart
-
Mate Try not to put anything in the water, they dont like it!!!! Look for something that can be mixed on the food with a bit of oil, much better for them and nothing is waisted!!! Stuart
-
Kipp and Son are very very good, Herbots are your best best bet!!! Stuart P.S. Kipp and sohn have written that there secret to success was pairing the birds different for every nest with the belief fresh pairs are keener breeders. They also retire a pigeon to the breeding loft after there first good result so that proven pigeons are never lost.

Mike I believe the winner was in fact a H Van Osch pigeon from Holland!!!!! Stuart

In my mind there are too commitee members who been there for years and no longer race pigeons and are out of touch!!!!! Do away with commitees vote one man every year who sets the options and every members votes on them "simple as that". Rule by commitee doesnt work.

Mate Select with your hand and not with the click of mouse!!!!!!! Stuart Wilcox

No takers yet so the first person who offers £35 gets the pigeon!!!!!! Stuart

Andrew I dont think so many people have a problem with people selling birds as it provides a good read and helps people find out about new families and the most successful strains. For me the problem they have is that you mention how good other websites are when many including myself beleive pigeonbasics is by far the best. Everybody In my opinion the more adverts that are placed on pigeon basics the better, people have more to read esp when pictures are included, i use it myself to show people what we have and start to introduce new names etc, ofcourse i have also used it to advertise pigeons i want to sell. To some people pigeon seller are only in it for the money but believe me, to that man who takes that Koopman cock out of its amtrak box next week i will be his best mate, he will call and say ive been looking for something this good for ages and thats called a service! I believe in the site, and we will advertising on it within the week and when cheques have arrived and banked i will try to donate on a regular basis. I must admit i almost applied to be a member of the team today but remembered how bad my spelling was and how little spare time i have, maybe in the future. I think we should all do what we can to keep pigeon basics a happy place and without tension, if people have pigeons to sell read the adverts and if the type and price isnt to your liking let it go. In defence of Andrew the pigeons that he is selling are very expensive for English fanciers to buy so i believe he has offered them at a price to recover his money. This is a great place! Lets keep it that way. Regards Stuart Wilcox

Soon i will be visited by a chinese fancier. In his own country he races HVR, Meulemans, Cattryse and Sions. He wishes to visit top lofts that fly these families but to be honest i dont know where to start? Does any of you know people that still fly these families pure with good results? Regards Stuart Wilcox

Ive been looking for a new house in the Bristol/Bath and North Mendips for months but finding a house with a garden for pigeons is proving a difficult task. I have designed new lofts they are 58ft by 15ft wide and incorperate ever thing i need, however finding that size of garden which has daily sun isnt easy. It is easy to see why the sport is struggling when you see so many modern houses being built with tiny gardens and restricted planning laws. I did find the garden of my dreams in Peasdown St John just outside Bath but the misses saw the houses and soon scubbered that idea!!! I could buy a big field or a small holding but when i think about looking after pigeons away from your house like i do now, i can only think that having them in your garden is so much easier. Has others had the same problems. Stuart
