That sounds about right Mike! Stuart

May be wrong Mike but that was the figure quoted in the summer!!!! Thats from the breeders and top pigeons Mike and thats the Minimum they go up from there but i may be wrong : Can imagine they would sell them for much less than they make on Pipa. What was your understanding? Must say they seem nice people

Verkerks are 500 euros at the door so if you went direct they would cost 4000 euros. Stuart Wilcox

Sorry mate i dont think he would be a patch of this pigeon, how a child of a good pigeon can be worth more than a National winner that has bred 7 x 1sts and is only for sale due to the owner Paul Stevens leaving the sport i will never know : Anyway thats just my opinion (which you invited) so dont take offence!!! Its a free market. Stuart

Gone!!

Your correct Paulo, people are paying through the nose for some pigeons only due to names and fads!! Stuart

I buy the best straight corns i can and mix my own!!!! Maize, Peas, Wheat and Conditioner. Add to this peanuts and cheese and it would compete with any of the £13.50 bags from the continent. Costs me £5.50 a bag that way but i must stress they high quality!!!! My Partner in Holland flys Marimens complete and that costs him £6.50 a bag I think we pay through the noise for most things. Stuart

The reason why i apply this rule is you can often get caught in fashions and one seaon a price for a pigeon which would of halfed by the following year. Mike i agree its formula that suits the buyer more than the seller and im often in a position where people say "make an offer" so thats how i work my offer!!!! Good discussion tho!! Stuart

Pigeon Man You are right but remember that if you are going to bring a pigeon to loft like gezzas National Winner it the qualities she is bringing thats important. Her direct offspring may not be top racers but her children may be very potent breeders and in time give someone a very strong platform to build on. Most good breeding pairs breed lets say 3 good pigeons and then they deteriate year after year. Give me a top racer any day and then i can bred my own stock pigeons then, rather than a few good birds you can create a good family Stuart

One of the frequent questions im asked is regarding the value of a pigeon. As most people know i sell a few birds and advertise most weeks in the BHW and im pertners with Raymond Moleveld in Holland. We have over the years visited many lofts to purchase champions and young birds etc and we have come up with a formula which i believes works very well. Pigeon X is worth the value of 6 of his/her children. I will give you a few excamples. Grand children of the Kannibal (van dyck) sell for £300 each so i would value a son/dtr at £1800. Using this formula great grnd children would £50 each, about write. G-children of The Boss (LPW) sell for £40 so a son would be worth £240 etc etc. There are lots of people way over pricing pigeons at the moment, they need to remember that if you buy a grandson for £150 then the pigeons you breed are actually ggchildren so there along way away. So i always value a pigeon to same value as 6 of his children and that way i never over or under price them! what do you think? Stuart.

Mate If your serious about racing at a good level dont led by colour only quality. stuart

M & D Evans have breed lots of good pigeons and not only the ones that have raced for Mr Daykins, who incidently i rate as one of the best flyers this country has. However I do think sometimes people take a little too much credit away from the founder of the strain "GABY" Van De Abeele. He has created a family of pigeons that are winning in Belguim, Holland, Great Britain, Germany, America and Asian for well over 20 years now and thats takes some doing. He is still alive, still racing, still winning and still selling pigeons!!!! Stuart

The Bottom line is if the pigeons are conveyed for a race the conveyor, race controller, fanciers and the Combine/fed/nat should be prepared to do whats best for the birds and if thats a holdover then so be it. Many organisations dont even take a bag of corn so its easy to see what there intensions would be!! Throw them out whatever :'( Stuart Wilcox

Raymond Moleveld Top Jan Aarden Breeder De Lightenberg
-
Raymond Moleveld in Holland has the most outstanding distance family you would ever want to see and they are all based around a cock called De Lightenberg! I raced these for the first time this year as babys and they have been brilliant esp in hard head winds, one grand daughter won the club last week by 15 mins.

Snowy The chocolates dont fly any distance at all mate, the majority of them are just novalty pigeons (crap). If you want Meulemans go for the nice pencils etc because most of the chocolates just take up loft space. Saying all that the Meuleman strain is a very good one and they wouldnt be a bad road to go down. Stuart

Yes he is still for sale and he filled every egg this year.

This champion pigeon is for sale for offers around £250! Stuart
