  2. Peregrines need wiping out - along with sparrowhawks HaHa (changed this paul as it looked like I was saying women needed wiping out LOL)
  3. She likes to look at them from the end of the garden, thats about it LOL!!! She hasnt moaned about them yet, so its looking up LOL. Although I bet when racing starts next year and I want to race a few - then the moaning will start : : :
  4. I think your in with Paulo there Sam ;D ;D ;D ;D
  5. Ive used adenosan and that clears it up pretty quick ;D, but also had to treat for cocci-canker etc Also had my YBs on Trikonox this year and didnt seem to get YB sickness till I stopped using it for a month - so I put them back on it and they were fine after that ;D

    System

Cant beat having cocks on widowhood for condition - I hate have pigeons paired up and chasing and doing those big craps after being sat on the nest all day or night LOL
  7. Same as most - but mine dont get a name until they are at least two year old - e.g. Mr Reliable (for obvious reasons) - Grunt (as he never stops grunting when im in the loft) - 008 (from his ring number) etc etc LOL

    How Nice

Totally agree - but is it just me or are the birds getting broody a little early this year, mine are normally pretty quiet at this time of year, but they seem to be much louder and broodier than ever atr the moment :-/
  10. I put the bath in the aviary which is raised a foot of the ground with a mesh floor so the water just drains away. The birds love the bath and will bath and then just sit in the aviary all day no matter how cold it is ;D. Cant see it being a good idea to have the bath in the loft!!!!
  11. Seeing the difference in the condition of my birds when they have been left in the aviary it does make me think there better off outside. They seem to condition better and I think they do better in hard nose end racers as they are used to being out in the cold. I had my loft heated last year and Ive never lost so many birds in head-wind racers as I have this year. No more heating for mine, just stuck out in the aviary during the day with a bath :-)

    Spooky hens

I dont think its just this time of year, during the racing season if you let them out an hour b4 it gets dark they will do the same thing. A bloke in our club does it every year he lets his birds out to get them used to coming home in the dark from channel races, even trains them late on and his tend to have any amount of nights out where they just seem to fly into the dark and then land all over the place. My YBs did it years ago and they were still flying an hour after dark - bearing in mind this was in June - and I lost a few that night, probably due to them hitting things. Still not got a clue what caused them to do this!!!
  13. Any chance of purchasing a pair?? My mate had an old fave rapido-busschaert that I managed to lose of training, which he has never forgiven me. Id love to surprise him with a pair of whitens to replace him ;D ;D
  14. 5mins to scrape out - 20mins to get the cocks to settle down b4 switching the lights off LOL
  15. This year Im going to jab mine 5 weeks b4 pairing, then multi-vits for a week. Then 3 weeks b4 pairing treat for worms with moxidectin for 2 days and again mulit-vits for a week. Then when there sitting treat them for canker with turbosole for 7 days and back on the multivits. Have never seen the need to treat for cocci as my loft is bone dry and any water spillage is limited.
  16. Ive seen a video on it and the line between the two slits has to be perfectly straight apperently, any twist in the line and its supposed to mean the birds had some kind of problem at some point in its life!!!
  17. How will you be adding perspex to your lofts - Looking at your loft piccies they are flat roofs like mine. Just interested how you will be doing it as I want to get it right with no leaks etc. Theres some flat roof in the offices where I work and they have roof lights that would work well I think.
  18. Roof lights to have the option of more light in - with shutters if I feel its too warm in the loft. And simply to relax more with birds ;D
  19. Quality dark'un in the second piccie - Wish I hadnt packed in as I would snap it up straight away - Its the double of a few of my corbett bushy's
  20. Its prescription only is the biggest factor, its that for a reason. It kills all the good bacteria aswell as the bad. Dont get me wrong its fantastic stuff if theres a major prob, ive used it on my birds when mine were really bad a few years ago. Parastop is supposed to be the best preventative and I know of a few top flyers who use it a month B4 pairing.
  21. Before breeding i treat the birds by giving baytril usually about 10 days before first september for 5 days of that i mix it with a good multi vit and on the 11 day i jab them for the prevention of paratyphoid using sal-bac.When jabbed them it should be at least a month before you intend to pair them up.I always treat for canker as well before the breeding season .I always give multivits 2-3 days after any treament i do,aswell as that couple of days of garlic on the food Its a bit extreme giving them the baytril!!! Parastop is what ive been advised to use as Baytril will give you all kinds of problems at some point!!
  22. I had a pigeon that used to do the same, and was really consistent in racing, but would never trap, so never made it into the clock.
  23. Similar experience for me, I had a cock bird that went missing as a Yb and turned up during the winter months and its one of my best cocks, he has won twice and scored loads of times. So give it a chance ;D
  24. Open the boxes for the widow cocks to spin in there bowls and leave them for ten mins. Then basket them up and release then hens into the section, leave them for ten mins so the cocks can see the hens and hopefully the hens will strut infront of the basket. Then take them to the club. You can only do this once or twice a season, normally at the end as it whinds them up something rotten, but it does make them perform out of their skins
  25. Same here, bath them in the aviary and dont let them out. I opened the loft to let them out for a fly on the weekend and they wouldnt come out, so I just locked them in the aviary as usual.
