Bit of a lonmg shot But here goes A friend of ours has had some youing birdsd go down with canker he as been trerating with spartrix tabs But lost all four young birtds The worrying thing is that while was away for a weeks holiday three adults died and two others are showing signs of canker He doesnt normally treat these birds for Canker prior to breeding season as they are in a closed loft Though he brought two nnew stock birds in just before Christmas He doesnt live local to us so im not sure what to tell him As i cant rember the last time we had a bird with canker certyainly not an adult bird Though we do treat them all prior to breeding and as they come out of the nest Has anyone exsperenced canker in adults Is there any flock treatment as spartrix isnt working Thanks Deb

Yep Eccho lofts are great Weve had two built this year Verty sturdy and well built Not a drop of wet gets in Even in this driving rain Deb

We normally use Noro-mectin to controll feather lice Ivor-mectin before that This year a couple of drops on the back of the neck on our young birds has failed to get rid of the lice Ive just bought a new bottle so not sure if it has been change Or our birds has built up a resistance to it Just wondered if anyone could reccomend an alternative to it Deb

Yeah tried both Echo and Parkhall today For what I want Parkhall came out at £2300 Rot proof Echo was £3060 For the standard Heavy duty £3300 and £3800 for the delux Not sure what the difference is. Would it be money well spent going for an Echo loft or Parkhall Deb

Get one of the little Henry Hoovers that you will find at Home Base BQ etc. Much better value,the only difference is,no scraper suplyed with the hoover. Deb

I have been looking at the deflective netting,to keep the rain from blowing through the open doors,on my lofts.I have agreen garden type mesh on at the moment,which helps.But would the deflective netting be any better.Anyone have this on there lofts. Deb

Hi Lindsay I have downloaded the Gimp editor. I looks like just what I was looking for,loads of features.But I am having problems getting a picture on screen.Normally there is a browse button along the top,with all the featues.I have tried right clicking on the image,which give me the option to edit with Gimp,but just takes me to the Gimp page,without the photo to work on.Is there something simple I am missing ? Your adult birds can carrie salmonella and never show any signs of ilness.So it is very easy to have birds that are carriers,or bring a bird in that carries salmonella,or have your birds penned in a race basket or at a show with a carrier.If your sheds are free from vermin,there is only one other place the young birds can be infected from.
