could members please keep a lookout for youngbirds with the letter D10701-to i7000 as the derwent valley fed have had a disaster race out of garstang near blackpool 64 mls today, liberated at 1-20 in a west north west wind, hundreds of birds missing, looks like the wind may have pushed them up the wrong valley, this couldnt have come at a worse time with members already suffering because of the old bird races, leaving a lot of people finished, this being only the second race, thank you.

hi babybird, are your birds just holding corn or are they being sick as well, could be you are just overfeeding.

give them nothing to eat for 48 hrs then give diat 2 or 3 times a day small amounts, follow up with nystatin after amoxi for 3 days mate and put probiotics on the feed and electrolites in water for a few days, hope you get them back to normal soon, bloody nightmare at times.

all depends how bad you have it rye, i managed to catch it right away so only put them on it for 3 days half teaspoon to gallon, if you have it bad i would put them on for 7 to 10 days.

same here linsay, seen forcast dinner time mate, not sending to sit in baskets all weekend better of in loft especialy with just got over y.b.s, west cumbria fed have put back for 24 hours.

overcast or light rain,the birds seem to head for home better than if its clear blue skys.

roland, now youve got me confused mate, i thought putting electrolites in the water stopped them getting dehydrated so i must have been doing wrong all these years putting in water on friday & saturday, but eh the birds recover faster than if i put just plain water in especially on hot days but everyones different i suppose but it works for me and i would guess 90% of fanciers.

as long as they have two that will do for me, once went to a show racing pigeons eye sign, one man took two show birds along, guess what, he won it ;D

hi mate, , i had this last week, started tuesday, what i did was starve them till all the food was out of there system, the droppings went very sticky so i put them on amoxycillen for three days and put them on diat quarter ounce each morning and half ounce night, done this for 3 days, then i put them on nystatin for 2 days then started to build them up slowly on to normal feed, quarter ounce half feed half diat morning then half ounce at night then back onto normal feed, half ounce morning, ounce night plus rehydration saults in water for 3 days after nystatin.

took my young on a 25 mile training chuck today having not been since last monday because of y.b.s, i didnt know what to expect when i got home, outcome all home and chasing each other around the garden so things look o.k for now, fingers crossed.
