I took my 14 for a 15 mile toss this morning, they arent ready to race yet so I thought there wouldnt be many others about so they should get a free flight. It took the first ones 6 and half hours and I had 5 together, then others straggled in in one in some terrible weather around tea time, I am just 2 short now.

Hope this works If not just type pigeon lofts in the search box on home page then it will bring them up http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pigeon-Loft-Nest-Box-Breeding-Nesting-Boxes-4-Bird_W0QQitemZ250594362678QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Home_Garden_Garden_Plants_Bird_Bath_Feeder_CV?hash=item3a58968536

I bought 6 latebreds off Steve Fosters Lambrechts last year, due to a change of focus I would like to swap these if anyone is interested for 4 Verkerk 2010 young birds. These are about ready for pairing and I think there is 3 pair, not sure about 1 of them, 4 bred off his best widow cocks and 2 off stock. Please pm if interested Thanks Steve

For attention to detail and workmanship the Barnsley Lofts were the best by miles, dont know how much they were but they cant have been cheap with the workmanship involved, some would say you dont need it in a piigeon loft, if you dont then get a Blakes but they werent in the same league IMO

Stan You are right, sorry if I confused you Lindsay

I use a T2, they are as stated previously the predessesor of T3. They are set running and you must print clockings prior to opening. Other than that you cant tell the difference, the front looks like a T3 and you review clockings like a T3 by pressing the button, runs bang on over 24 hours. £35 a bargain, if you dont want it pm me with the detail. I wouldnt put you off the one on Ebay, My father had one of those 25 year ago, again a good timekeeper and good clock. You had to be carefull when reading them off, I know one or two blokes who tried it on by reading it off a minute earlier than it was. Not sure if you can still get hold of the clock rolls and ink ribbons. Steve

Old one looks good, new one looks very smart who made it. Looks like your increasing your team to fill it

Chris I used 3 x 2 scant for framework at 2 foot centres, 1/2 inch plywood for floor, roof ans sides and back and 5 inch matchboard on front, you wouldn't believe how many nails and screws you go through, then felt cuprinol etc, that's where a lot of the cost goes

Thanks, No it is only a 10 x 6 with 2 sections, 8 nest boxes and 20 persches, Enough for the time I have to look after them.

I Built my own ,but by the time I had finished it probably cost me more than buying one but I got a lot of pleasure out of making it. Steve

Racing Old Birds Only
Steve Shaw replied to Steve Shaw's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Good Idea Spin Cycle, I never thought of that, at least that way you can take you time with them and and not tied down daily to the work load of two teams racing in one season and you can look after the young at your leisure. Thanks -
I have just started up again after a long break. I gave up due to a lack of time I had, and still have really, but I enjoy keeping the birds. I am already worried that I wont have the time look after both old birds and young birds next year. I much prefer old bird racing to young bird racing so I tought I might just race old birds and not bother with young. I was wondering if anyone else out there races old birds only, but rather than breeding and training young birds, buys some young in at the end of the season from someone who has plenty left to settle and add to the following years team. I know by doing this you can never form your own family unless you get the young off the same lofts. Obviously my other option is just keep stock birds and breed young and race them then move them on a the end of the season, which is probably a lot easier but not my preferred option. Any comments would be appreciated. Steve
