Good thinking Andy, that gives me the best of both worlds, never thought of that, well worth considering. Thanks once again. Mick

Just after a bit of advice. I am going to split the section where I keep my YB's and retired racers/stock birds. For the past few years I've flown my YB's out with my older stock to make it easier for my wife who looks after the birds while I'm at work. I intend to keep to this system partly next year i.e. fly the YB's out with th older pigeons until they are kitted up and settled, then I want to seperate them. To do this I'm splitting the section into two, YB's in the front, Stock at the back with the perches fitted to the new dividing partition which means they are in the centre of the loft. I would like to back the box perches with wire (for ventilation purposes) rather than a solid back, would the YB's be happy with being exposed front & back, I personally can't see it's any worse than a Vee-perch Any thoughts on the matter?

My Club, The Milton Homing Society holds five small club shows every year. They are Young Cocks, Young Hens, Old Cocks, Old Hens & Championship Show ( All previous show card winners). We have only got 36 pens so it's usually a maximum of two birds per member and its a good night, all the lads having a drink and a chat while the judging is in progress ( all handled). We normally run a raffle and all proceeds go to a Show Race the following season.

Can anyone give me the formula for working out co-efficients.

What effect has ETS had on membership levels in Scotland? Have ex-fanciers returned to the Sport i.e. Shift Workers or have membeships decreased through excessive timings. Looking through the posts has it had any effect on slowing the decline of the Sport.

I have one and use it when I do a major shed clean out. It is very nice to use when it's hot, comfortable with a cooling breeze over your face, but in the winter months it can freeze the end of your nose off. I was bought mine at Blackpool so I can't help you on the price.

Roland, could you give the source of the information of the German study, this is just the sort of scientific evidence we need in our efforts to get the pigeon racing risk-assessment reassessed by DEFRA.

There would seem to be quite a few Pigeonbasics members going, but I for one wouldn't know any of them. If we all wear Pigeonbasics badges wouldn't it be easy to introduce yourself and have a beer or two and put a face to the pennames.

Is there any way we could get Pigeonbasics Convention Badges made with members forum names on them. Good publicity for the site I would think and a good method of introduction between forum members. Any Ideas?

If ETS is accepted by the RPRA, what Club computer programs are fully compatible with it, i.e. directly transferring the data from the clock to the computer. What race programs are used by Scottish clubs who use ETS?. I am asking because I am hoping to update my own Club's computer program next year and I want to ensure that it will be suitable in the event that ETS is accepted by the RPRA.

Do yourself a favour Barry, and get hold of a copy of 'The Widowhood Year' by Dave Allen and it will give you a very good grounding in the art of Widowhood flying. It's still available from Boddy & Ridewood and is an absolute goldmine of information for novice Widowhood flyers. I wouldn't bother with the video though.

A book was published in 2002 by James Dolier titled ' HORSEMAN - The Thief Poulter ' which gives a history and a good selection of photos. It is published by Winckley Press of Preston.

Like the Drapes, Wiley. I'll need some myself next year.

The pigeon is probably sitting on the throat of the chimney where it is angled to induce a draught, this is normally about 6 feet below the pot. I have rescued two pigeons from mine and a neighbours chimney by climbing up th the chimney and lowering a piece of batten with a cross brace as a perch and hoisted them out. If you know any roofers they could help. Failing that if it's an open fireplace the bird will normally, after a couple of days, emerge from the grate, thirsty, hungry & dirty.

My old Mealy Bar cock 1992 has just slyly hatched a youngbird this week. He is fully fertile but doesn't like sitting the eggs normally. He was half Mealy and half Blue Bar when he was younger but he is almost entirely all Mealy now. My 'Old Fella' 1989 BB had youngsters this year but I think his hen has been 'playing away' as he can hardly walk let alone tread. -
I haven't used it yet Tammy, I've prepared a draft, just waiting to see if ETS gets the go-ahead in England so that we can apply for a grant for an ETS system. Thanks once again for the time you spent in forwarding the information.
