my father inlaw who had pigeons all his life seen this and was saying u just know at the start it hard but just watching them u can tell if a bird is right 4 the job. u send hopeing they will not only come back but win it. it like horses 4 corse but some time thing go wrong and theres nothing u can do .some pigeons are sprinters/middle/longdistance but some just are alrounders no mather what they just get home even if they have 2 walk he says.

leave it 2 them as long as there happy

kept buggies cockataiel wife did not mind. next door seen hurt bird and knock in .put it in a box till strong enought to fly home. let it go it came back but think the buggies anoyed him left after a few week so. middle child cryed 4 him. so grandad got 2 4 her. buggies anoyed them so they left so go rid of buggies and got some pigeons wife hates them so when i get more pigeons i have 2 put them in under the cover of darkness she still thinks that there is still only 4 out in shed 12 now all blues or chekers cant put colour in or she twig it. :)

haveing lost one pigeon 2 days ago (only have 4 pairs). i was disapointed. :'( :'( but the joy of seen her on the roof tops 2 day was great getting her back was such a trill. if this is the trill of raceing roll on the first race if i ever get a good un i will proable drop dead from harte-attack. what a rush. :)
