thanks speckled where do i get this aloe vera gel? would you fire the rocket every time before you let the bird out or just when you see them? the hawks are in view most of the time but dont usually bother when im watching them but as soon as i turn my back......like today bang!! :'(

thanks for all the replys folks! jimmy had a few taken last year have tried allsorts theres about 3 pairs locally minus! 1 have nt had 1 taken since september but just let my guard down this week while i was pairing up!! dont know who was more frightened me or sam ( the pigeon) yes they ve all got names lol do they heal and recover quite well? pete

hi all just a short one can any one help me please? had a pigeon attacked by a sparrowhawk today! has got him just near his underside near his feet think he will be o.k not bleeding much ,what the best thing to put on the wound to help it heal/stop it getting infected? thanks in advance pete :'(

great idea and will work but how easy would it be for the rings to get damaged etc? just wondered as if the electronic ring get damaged in any way it would make the bird un raceable?? might be just being thick but dont know much about these rings thanks pete

very interesting topic all!! i kept pigeons about 10 years ago and during that time i lost a hen that had just layed her second egg i stupidly sent her training and never saw her again. so locked her box up with bowl and eggs still in!! anyway to cut a long story short i had another pair of pigeons who had just layed a due to fighting the eggs got smashed! so having no pot eggs i slipped the two eggs from the missing hen under this pair! and 1 of them hatched! i was gobsmacked i will never forget it as when i looked at my records that other hen had been missing 7 weeks!! true story folks pete p.s the eggs were just in the loft in a bowl in normal june time weather?? :-/

hi speight im in crewe in cheshire and my loft is near farmers house and we rent 2 acres there my wife got 2 horses there aswell so its pretty cool just started with ybs last season and i propped the result up every week!! mine were walking back lol ;D :'( but cant wait for april 2 come to try and redeem myself!! ha getting a new loft aswel soon if i can find one second hand if not will get a new 1 for this years ybs howl ong you flown speight? pete

jusst started last year and all my ybs were stamped!!....... 27 lost( mostly my own inexperienced fault lol) 3 reported 2 by none fanciers! is it really that difficult to pick the phone up? at least give the fancier the chance to say wether he wants the bird back? i had 30+ strays in last year over half wer nt stamped! so thay got fed and released the others were reported straight away and a few wanted them back and a few are still here at my lofts now. so come on nice people pick up the phone 1 of those strays you get in copuld be from a new starter like me. And its a bit disheartening thanks for reading my whinge!! lol
