Plus you got to think is anyone from your area going to let you have their best to compete against them - it aint going to happen in my area - Christ they wont even tell you what the training/feeding/breeding /exercise etc etc regime is where I am............
-
Well I have mine on 60% wheat 40% barley with a teaspoon per bird of conditioning seed per day and they seem good on it - they'll stay on the conditioner until moulted out.
-
got last race tomorrow(90 miles) for my later bred birds who have been trained out to 40 miles , the rest I stopped a couple of weeks ago , naturals and dropping to bits in the moult
-
had the y/bs for a 40 mile trainer today and after liberating them and turning me back on them to put the basket back in the car , looked around and they were out of sight , hmm thinks I - usually see them for a few minutes before they head home but this time nothing to be seen, got home before them and they have come in in dribs and drabs over the last 3 hrs and 3 still missing, the last one in was ripped to bits 3 big holes in the crop and a hole at the end of the keel just before the vent, have tried me best to glue everything up , whats the verdict , better to cull or just keep it basketed up and keep an eye on it ? hopefully it'll pull through although still the odd dribble from the crop.(will this be okay?) Obviously hit by BOP hope I get the rest back.

glad to see you're getting it sorted - out of interest what treatment has been prescribed??
-
Glad it got there okay gd

The way mine have been flying I need an hour start anyway so quibling about 15 secs load of rubbish seriously tho' clocks are finished - ets is the dogs dangly bits - got to move with the times or strangulate the sport further
-
Do you have power supply in the loft??? I have a 4" extractor fan pulling air at ground level from the youngbird loft which exhausts into the old bird side - this in turn has a 6" extractor in the ceiling , gives an excellent flow of fresh air through the loft. the y/b side has a 3' mesh window where the fresh air enters. total power consumption is only equivalent of running a 45 watt light bulb so it's running 24 hrs a day

cheers for all the advice Alan I would love to punch his heid in , but unfortunately I think that's what the weasel is wanting me to do lol. I lost one of the birds from David due to the tw=ts antics...... spoke to the union and they gave some advise , also spoke to my insurer and they have advised me to be nicey nicey suggest mediation etc etc. my plan is to act 'dumb' request further details from his solicitor time and time again and run a bill up for the wanker . then when or if it gets 'iffy' for my position my insurers should take over the legal fight game on

has anyone ever been threatened by their neighbours to have an injunction put upon them to stop flying the pigeons??? if so what was the outcome the nutter next door has been to see a solicitor after failing with the council planning and environment depts and he reckons the birds are causing damage to property a nuisance and disturbance including trespass , he has indicated he wants a day in court and wants to bleed my pockets dry. anyone any experience with things along these lines????
-
got 1 that will not go through the trap (ets) but always waits for me to open the door allows me to pick up and swipe across the pad, guess which was first home today lol strange things pigeons eh?

Well no real percy near me but I have the stupid *expletive removed* woman who lives next door swinging a plastic peregrine about on the end of a pole to p*ss me and the y/b's off . absolute nutter, hope the y/b get used to it lol. going to have to have a word with her husband when he comes home, no wonder the feller works away most of the year.

to David from huntly - he drove all the way from huntly to aberdeen to meet me and gift me a cracking pair of young gabbys, you couldn't wish to meet any better pigeon men than him and his mate from here BLACK WF, lads it was a pleasure to meet the both of you , just a pity my train was so early because I'm sure we could have chatted all nite if the time was available, once again many thanks , hope I can push them on and catch a comeback race gd

not had any mites but use as a preventative - guess it works

-
as far as I understand you have been keeping pigeons in the shed for as long as you've been there and only now have started to let them out , if you have been there over 4 years no problems, whos to say you haven't had birds in there for the past 4 years, this is my plan for any awkward neighbours good luck
-
excellent offer - have patience young Jacob and take up this offer , well done lads , need more like you to get the youngsters on the first step of the ladder.

having bought from so called 'respected pigeon men' and had a bad experience in the past - I would like to thank the original poster on his willingness to help new starters , the sport needs people like you to get the new fanciers off to a good start and I applaud you for your actions. I would also like to thank BLACK WF who is going to gift me a pair of distance birds in the future - this after reading of the problems after buying from a member here. and DAVID another member who is gifting me a pair of gabbys to try out. Also JACKSAFC who has provided me with a kit of 6 y/b at minimal cost to try out and last but not least chichichi - who has provided me the opportunity to enter one of his competitions on another forum and I was lucky enough to win a pair of y/b to try out. As we can see from these actions - there are plenty of people to help new fanciers out and once I am established I will be gifting birds on a regular basis to new and especially young fanciers. I reckon it will be the only way to stop the sport dying out all together so it'll be for everyones benefit cheers lads
