i think what i was told was correct .i did not mention the hen in question has just raced over 380 mile

as i learned today with my idea of breeding a hen then taking her eggs away for another pair of birds to raise . so she would lay again quickly . i thought get both pairs to lay at the same time or near enough.then soon as the hen i want to go down quick again lays put her eggs under the other pair.WRONG. i was told to let both pairs sit their eggs for a week to 10 days .then swap them over . WHY. i was then told if i had have done it my way .the cock would start to drive the hen to lay again right away. so she was going to get no peace. most inportantly if i had done it my way the hen would have probably have suffered a calcium deviancy. which would not have helped as i want to race her next year .as it has been said every day is a school day

their has got to be a good few lib sites that have been used for years .as most of my distances have not changed .

i think that the way our distances are measured need to be looked at again as i got most of mine in 1997 which is not that long ago. some of the guys that have been racing for alot more years than that must have got their distances way back. with new uptodate technology i am sure that the measurements would be made more accurately.

when i first started racing birds i always,s cleaned my drinkers thoroughly.till i visited a top flyer near me .i seen his drinkers thy where all near green with algae .so i asked why he told me the bacteria build up is beneficial to the birds so now i dont clean with any detergents what so ever. as for giving bleach would you drink it.

i am always afraid of loosing any of my birds training or racing. but if you have 12 now and dont race them .next year you take 2 rounds that gives you 24yb,s next year. if the 12 you have now are no good then you have fed them bred them and a good chance you will lose most of what you breed. on the other hand if you train them properly and race all 12 and say 1 wins a race or even wins a prize card in your club you could stop him or her till next year knowing that it is not a bad pigeon . plus all 12 would have experience . just because a yb does not win any cards as a yb does not mean that it will not win as a yearling.as i have proved this time and again not just me most of the members will tell you the same .

if i had 12 yb,s now then i would race them all. as i cant see the point of breeding from birds that have not proved them selves racing.unless the birds are really well bred .only my opinion

i make sure i put back in what i take out. as thy are only babies still growing and training.thy are also needed for next year.

i would never give bleach to my birds or use it on the drinkers.i know a man that does give bleach in some form to his birds.would not be me

i had a blue wf cock some years ago had the same thing .i was told to put him in a pen and feed and water him daily .was told he would make a full recovery no treatment given with in two weeks he was back to his old self. it just shows how resilient or birds are. was also told he will heal from the inside out so pushing the pellet out .he must have done that because he went on to win more races.

i was really LUCKY i got 3 on result. or was it good pigeons good training good feeding and keeping my birds happy .that got them on result.well done D Owen on winning the open with a good pigeon well trained well fed well looked after and well deserved.

it is my first national and it wont be my last . thanks to you all. i will take this chance to let you all know i got the bird as a gift from the late george logan (GEORGES GIFT) other than that i cant tell you much about her.she is paired to a cock bred by a son and daughter pairing of a bird called BITS AND PISCES bred by mister john bird he won over £7000. two late breeds from this pairing will soon be for sale to help ian mckay,s schools appeal.hear is a picture of the pair.it,s not a very good one but it will do just now.

i got one off my hens back on sunday morning . her under side is totally black and blue .she was also one i thought would have a good go at it. it makes you wonder what obstacles the birds face on their way home. what a gutsy hen not giving up with a broken leg and a bashed keel HEART OF GOLD real grit and determination hope she recovers. hope you get you other birds back in better nick garath
