Who knows, give it a try, it may open up the discussion a little further, but there are other clubs which could benefit from this type of racing, BBC BICC and no doubt some more.

I sugested something on similar lines to this last year, with the reducing membeship and low birdage with all clubs chasing the same birds, it makes sense to all go on the same day particlarly the specialist clubs. Most fanciers who are in to classic racing are members of more than one classic club, so it would easy to have all the classic clubs going to the same racepoint on the same day and members duplicating their entries. It would also make sense for the federations to do it, but somehow I just could not see it working or being given a try. I call it club mentallity, someone happens to live 2 miles into the east or just the other side of the motorway and they are suposed to have an advantage, or some other equally silly reason, but there it is.
Personally I wish it would happen, but I won't be holding my breath.

I have some old copies of these magazines from about 1983 to 1995, there will not be many missing, if any, I didn't want to throw them away as there are some good articles in them, so, anyone interested, they are free to a good home, just arrange to collect them.
interested ? pm me

one of my gaby's was 130th open Pau NFC 704 miles and flew Tarbes this year.
some pigeons will fly 500 and some won't, doesn't matter what so called strain they are, its down to them and how they are treated.

I have posted this on another forum, but has anyone any idea how the donations are going towards the fighting fund

Northern Classic birds due to go to up at Saintes on Sat, when they docked in France they were not allowed off the boat, sent them right back, being liberated in Truro Sat morning
Poor substitute, but there you are, nothing we can do about it but keep fingers crossed that is is lifted soon.

not much chance of a lib Sat it looks grim, Sunday looks a little better but not a lot
and yes you are right it was a bloody bad lib at last race, but hindsight is a wonderfull thing, but don't try to cover it up by saying it was a testing race. IT WAS BLOODY BAD.

I am having the same problem with pigeon chat now, can get opening poage, but can't get into chat.

I don't know what was wrong, but I didn't have a problem getting the early times up on Saturday afternoon, so I don't see why anyone else should have had a problem.

Futhest distance we have timed on the day from is Bergerac 605, but it was an hell of a tail wind. Furthest on the day on a good working day was Angouleme 547 mile lib at 0600 timed at 21 25. Pau 704 miles next morning, and Palomos 825 in quite a few days lol.

As the topic heading is First National race, you may be interested to know that the birdage booked in as of today is 6, 600 plus.
Hope we all get a good one

Vets seem to be getting a bit of a going over here ( and I do agree they know what to charge ) but,
I recieved a phone call this morning at aprox 10am from a person who I did not know in Bristol, I live near to Rotherham. He had a bird reported by a vet which someone had brought in to the surgery, it being Friday no amtrack or other carrier, the vet couldn't keep it over the weekend, he said, so this chap from Bristol had got my number from a third party and phoned me, at 11am the bird was at my house NO CHARGE FROM THE VET, so some do care.
All the best Mick

I have the same problem from time to time, I find that a Netto bag tied to a cane does the trick, they are black and yellow and as soon as it is raised into the air the birds will fly even if they are 60 or so yds away.

You got that right Sammy, it does stink,my the wife goes daft when i mix it in the house.

If you want to grow your own, its dead easy, buy some bulbs and remove the outer cloves. Then just stick them in the garden, plant on the shortest day, and lift on the longest, by using the outer cloves, the bulbs grown are bigger.
-
You can bye a garlic crusher, they aren't very expensive, I crush 5 decent sized cloves, or the eqivalent, and add them to a gallon container of cold water. Leave over night and then add about an eggcup full to a 4 pint drinker every day.the amount is not too critical, if its too strong they wont drink it.

He also comes up to South Yorkshire, I have had him pick birds up for me a couple of times. Good service

The 7 days quarantine and isolation doesn't make sense, if the country which you are racing from doesn't have the disease, why should the birds be isolated, there is nothing to catch to bring home.
It doesn't appear to me to have been thought through very well, it seems to me they have just put the isolation clause in just for the sake of it, "after all they are only pigeons arent they". Now if it had been poultry, there would have been no ristrictions at all, and I do believe that is the case

It is good news, but I think it was what was expected, however there is still the problem of not being able to race the same birds the following week.
This also needs to be looked at, with a view to getting back to what it should be. race the following week if you want.

If an individual member wishes to use an ets then it would be up to them to provide whatever is needed to use the system, not for the clubs to provide base station etc.
-
Let me first of all say that I don't give a toss if it accepted or not. I can't see where the problem is, there will be clubs which will use it, and clubs which will chose not too.
I can see where it may cause some ill feeling, but only in the local sprint clubs. For example, 2 fanciers side by side flying in the same club, both have stall traps fitted, one using a T3 and the other ETS. One lovely fine day 20 pigeons return from the race together, ten for each fancier all birds go through or into the stall traps as soon as they touch down. Now, this particular club pays out to the first 6 birds. Now who do you think will win the most prizes in the first six, ETS or T3? I suspect ETS 6 T3 nil.
Personally I am not interested in sprint racing, so it will not effect me, but the sprint lads are getting a bunch returning at the same time regularly, but it will not happen from the distance races, so if they want it so be it.

The only way you will get close to what is being sugested is by the bigger national / classic clubs organising there races from the same race point on the same day and liberating at the same time. Then allowing duplication into whichever clubs you happen to be a member of.
This wouldn't take a lot of organising, you just need to get committees to agree to have a go, I think it is a great idea.
Rose, I will be joining the BICC next year, even though it is 100 miles to basket.
With regard to distance, Pau is 704 miles to me Rotherham South Yorks Palamos 828, and Pau will be 800 up to Sunderland, so you may be able to work a distance out from that
