i started with no family involved , just daft on birds , i had brought home sparrows crows woodpigeons you name it , and when about 10/11 i caught a few streeters (and before any smart answers i got rid of them lol) after they refused to stay in my rabbit hutch, i managed to get my first loft(7x6) in 1977,my dads pal had birds and gave me encouragement,started racing in 1979, ive kept my son away from the birds as i did not want to ruin his life ,as pigeons is like a cancer, you cant get rid of it/them, but my wee g/son jack (3)who has ceribral phalsy loves them and will pick out a youngster this year and watch it grow/race ,but my second g/son(josh) hasnt seen them yet he's only 6months

ive seen the lanarshire pigeons fly by me on a saturday heading back east to lanarshire in a strong east wind last year , BECAUSE THE FED RACED DOWN THE WEST ROUTE ,I BELIEVE MOST OF THE BIRDS WONT COME UP THROUGH BEATOCK MOFFAT AREA BECAUSE THE MASS AMOUNT OF HAWKS IN THAT AREA SO GO WITH THE WIND UP THE WEST COAST AND BACK EAST INTO LANARKSHIRE

yes they do .They go right over the top of me , and ive said mostly east and sometimes eastnortheast

The SNRPC have introduced a new award (champions award) for a bird that wins a diploma 3/4/5/6 times from oversea's race's IT'S AS FOLLOWS 3x bronze award 4x a silver award 5x a gold award 6x a platinum award .We tried to introduce this 3/4 years ago but it didnt go through at agm.

listen gareth my doo's are motivated from about 250 miles onwards and fit and ALWAYS HEALTHY thats the races i want to compete at as this is an indication on how my national birds are and ALWAYS THEY COME OUT THE EAST -EAST NORTHEAST ALWAYS MATE , YOUR WELCOME TO COME AND WATCH.IM AT THE TOP OF A BIG HILL AND CAN SEE ABOUT 6/7 MILE EAST AND CAN SEE THEM COMING FROM FAR AWAY

totally dissagree gareth when was the last time you got a bird from a race out the south,my wee pal in the gow has never had a bird out the south for many many years, i know ALL my birds come out due east to east northeast its the only way into my area unless its a blow home and they come over the hills , birds DONT GO straight from A-B they follow contours of the country side , that could mean a snake like pattern,A BIG SNAKE .

HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS FRANK i won our race and AGAINST the odds so how cant guys like rankin,hannah,cullen, hay,hood, o'hara ,eddie, cosgrove (has), callan, buchanan and i could go on ,not win a national as ive said before ,if you dont believe you can win you never will. DONT BE SCARED OF THESE GUYS IN THE EAST THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN THE BOYS IN THE WEST(NO DISRESPECT MENT)

i honestly think if it was passed the two would be back together in 2/3 years its not the snfc thats the problem its the shu thing , most of us will/can never go back to THEM no way.

yes the BIG money is with the snfc ,i cant argue with that but money isnt everything mate, pro rata to birdage the prize money and pools with the snrpc is either on par or greater than the snfc , (off topic i know) AS far as im concerned if someone had the ball$ to take (the only one union rule) to court they would win , with freedom of choice act.BUT AS FRANKDOOMAN HAS SAID ITS BETTER TO KEEP COURTS /LAWYERS OUT OF OUR GAME THATS WHY NO ONE HAS .

JOE just because you would'nt do ti does'nt meen that its wrong , i dont let thm eat out of gutters so therefor cuts down the chance of picking up disease , and on a saturday they trap really well in fact if i have a bird thats on time then im confident mines will beat anything on the trap(except ets) . in fact years ago when i didnt keep them off the roofs i had more bother trying to get them to trap, they landed on the roof and looked anywhere but the loft, but some still won.

AS far as im concerned the racing is only starting at 250 miles billy ,i know were your coming from most or half have no birds left at 250 or very little left and chuck it and concentrate on their youngsters.

i remember a while back when desert orchid won the gold cup, yahoo was second for trainer john edwards , up till then he had lots of his horses run big races at the festival , so i think it was the cathcart chase 2 and a half miles m. pipe had the odds on fav rusch de farges ex french horse 1/2 fav i looked and seen john edwards had a horse by celtic cone running as i always backed celtic cone horses , it was called observer corps it was 66/1 i had £1 each way and had 2x £1 each way sings and £1 each way double observer corps and a horse of m.pipes .well observer corps won at 50/1 and pipe won the last race with his outsider but not the one i had bet, it was only 25/1 the winner was 33/1 . i called pipe you know what .crook ,cheat you name it . would have been a nice lift.SO THE MORAL OF THIS IS WATCH WHO'S HORSES ARE RUNNING WELL AND FOLLOW THEM .

frank we have members of renfrew and glasgow feds and they send to the two most weeks , just gives them two races each week thats not to be knocked , i could fly in two feds as well , but choose to stick to the one as fed racing does'nt bother me, until the later on races when my birds are ready to compete.
