Cheers Andy, the tab is for canker, but should I still give the treatment in the water, would it do them any harm ? Also what's a good multi vit to use?

Ok I got the harkers tabs, gave my 11ybs one, & while I was giving the 5 new ybs I noticed under the top beak of one had yellow gunk ( canker maybe ) so iv isolated him, should I put the other 4 which could not see anything in mouth or throat in the yb loft now or what do you lads think ? How long do the tabs take to kick in, cheers Al

Hi lads, I recently got 5 YBs in & I had them isolated from my own till I got some advice from people on here about treating them. So I got some harkers 3 in 1, I gave my 11 ybs & the 5 new ones a tab this morning. But while I was doing the 5 new ones I noticed some yellow gunk ( probs canker ) on the under side of the top beak on one of them, I checked the other 4 & couldn't see any under their beak or in their throats. What should I do, iv isolated the one with the gunk, how long does it take for the tabs to start working & should I keep the other 4 seperate or can I put them in the YB loft. Any help or advice would be great, cheers Al

Cheers walter, I have seen a couple of sputniks but never noticed anything at the back of them, so what your saying has giving me something to think about. I'm hoping to start the loft & traps in the next few weeks, just trying to get as much info on everything from the lads who have been in this hobbie for along time, so I can do it right from the start.

2 good ideas their, you could have bobs that swing both ways & when you lock it ( somehow ) the bird can't get into the loft, but you can still put your hand through cause the bobs wil swing into the sputnik & get the bird. Might work, just have to figure out how to lock the bobs. The perspex is good aswell, but would the bird be a bit slow to trap cause its closed.

What you mean wind up mate ? I'm a novice trying to get some helpful advice on building a long lasting loft. I don't think iv seen the sheets you're talking about, so how is that rocket science, if I was trying to explain something to you that you've never seen before wouldn't a picture help you out ! I'll be flying YBs this year once all my training go's well. I have lofts/aviaries already but they were built for fancy pigeons & white racers that I had for fun & were converted from sheds, so that's why I'm looking to build a purpose built racing loft. They'll do for a small young bird team this year, but want to start the new one sone, Cheers

I'm not hesitant at all, I'm open to all advice & tips cause I want to do it right from the start,i just can't picture what your talking about, maybe someone here has it done & could post a pic of it to give me an idea. Cheers Al

Good point andy about what lives under the lino. But the whole chipboard thing I can't get my head around that, are we talking about the same stuff here, chipboard is the stuff that is used in some fitted kitchens & stuff, yeah. I taught when that gets wet after a while it just falls apart ?

Ok can't seem to send a pm! Anyway so any sputnik iv seen had an open back so the bird droids in & flys back to its section, no ? Maybe the ones iv seen were altered, how do you trap the bird in the sputnik ? Sorry for all the questions but we all have to start somewhere
