  3. gave my birds a toss today i liberated mine over the hedge and around 20 race birds went up after them out of the barley field , still plenty of spillage on fields and these didnt look like they be going home any sooner
  4. nar too early to collect for bombfire night
  5. lol they came and took it away today chap werent happy with his investment even left the front of the post box loft
  6. happy birthday sam have a great day
  7. Johnny you cant say it's crap unless (a) you already have his system and tried it ( you have tried a similar system © you know of a top flier thats tried this system . But i like the other would like to know what this system involves , as i cant see how they could be natural if flying on a widhood system , as you cant rear and race at the same time and the nest state wouldnt come in to a widowhood bird , as it would be natural.
  8. eperdemic / pandemic viral out breaks , air bourn bacteria, faeces ,contaminated water, poor air quality all these reasons not to keep birds overcrowded most diseases are from bad management and poor obsevation granted but in my opinion if you have too many birds in one area then your asking for trouble and if people want to house there birds like this i hope they know a good vet because any disease entering the loft will run straight through the flock , in the past i have had yb sickness and had it for 2 years last 8 years clear, as you say let it go through your flock as they will suppress it and get over it with a little help and will illiminate the weeker pigeons with a poor constitution. Too many pigeons will also result in them getting respiritry due to bad air , and for the fancier psitticosiss or pigeon lung ( newcastle disease ) . Keep your birds as you want , overcrowded lofts make a god haven for poorly underperforming pigeons. Good debate , ill think ill have to agree to disagree . ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  9. was told this once: the next time you think your arguing with an idiot , step back and evaluate and make sure your not doing the same
  10. Am i being facetious ( spelt correctly ) no im not more factual than whitty . The loft you gave as an example was firstly a bad one and one that still did not support your statement. At no point in your orginal post did you say that overcrowding was a myth for bad management. In my young bird section which is 6ft x 6ft x 2 meters high, i have v- perches there are 50 of them i have another wall which is blank and a part wall if i added another 45 perches in this section there would be 95 perches so what your saying that would be fine and will hold 95 pigeons as they would all have a perch and dont forget the trap i suppose that could sit six pigeons , but i recon 1 dominant cock would kick them all off, then theres the floor space perhaps another 25 birds as im on deep litter so in all 130 birds i could have in here . My loft will hold 40 pigeons 36 even better. If your statement was true then why do we need sectional breeding boxes to breed these flock loving non territorial non fighting pigeons in ? a small 1ft shelve and could have all the nesting bowls next to each other
  11. nature is completely different as our birds are far removed from its rock dove state , there in a false enviroment , we race them which is not was intended for them we are manipulating the migratory instincts , we are there sole provider not mother nature , if you want to look at nature it's survival of the fitest but even the fitest can secum to illness , yes pick up a ferial they be lice free wont secum to paromixo virus , but you get it to fly 500+ mile , nature will be survival of the fittest not fastest or one that home
  12. In this 12ft x9ft x 8ft how would you catch all these pigeons to basket they would fly round you till your exhausted a smaller more managable area will keep your birds tamer and be less stressfull to them , but still you have not answered the question ( why is overcrowding a myth ) but clearly you wont because your opinion is flawed as overcrowding causes most of our pigeons health problems
  13. you claim that overcrowding is a myth , as i can clearly give you 2 examples that it is a problem and you even said that more birds housed then viruses spread quicker so even you admit that it's a problem , so i cant understand why it's a myth ?
  14. a Tree is not an enclosed artifical envirioment is it ? unless its a bonzai in a solarium , birds that roost in trees are in open air with shelter and there territorial instints will predict how many will roost in said tree , still this doesnt answer my original post: now lets see where did the Bird Flue Virus start ? overcrowded bird market !!!!!!!!! one loft race virus struck ? wonder how many birds per foot was in there
  15. 2 pigeons wouldnt be overcrowded now would they!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stale air ammonia feaces and racing and flying out will all be contributing factors in the health of a pigeon , how does your suggestion disprove over crowding ?
  16. hmmmmmmmmmmm now lets see where did the Bird Flue Virus start ? overcrowded bird market !!!!!!!!! one loft race virus struck ? wonder how many birds per foot was in there

  19. are you buy or selling , or both cant make out which
  20. it's good to get a few opinions Damian then you can make your own up , birds in different areas perfom better in some areas than others
  21. In your case i'd say yes birds all of different ages the older ones start to go ranging and take the younger ones with them then the younger ones peel out and loose they way. Most losess are because birds are poorly trained when sent to races. The second reason is clashing and third is birds with poor homing abilitys and no love of home.
  22. i let a hen out last week from my stock loft she appeared tonight should get her back in when she hungry , some neighbourhood kids let my stock out when i started at one house maded sure i had locks on after that , but im sure your gutted , they might supprise you and work there way back , i sure hope they do
