  9. cant you get a partner ????
  10. i like a 5 mile toss to start with , if the young birds have been ranging well then they would of covered this easily , but i believe better to release them closer to home as 1 gets them used to been basketed , and 2 better to be familiar with the area and build there confidence and if get a bad toss at 5 mile there more likely to wander back , once there covering a to b well move them on it's not about fitness its more about gaining there confidence and get them ready for what's ahead of them imo
  11. Happy birthday guys and girls , have a great day

  14. I still am at a lost why they choose the worse design the ring with the hole on the outside looked to me as a better option think it was the belgs that had them looked like you slipped a peg type chip in apart from been plastic looked to be best design imo
  15. Welcome to Pigeon Basics , we hope you enjoy our site
  16. most say about 10 weeks old personally i believe this differs from one strain to another some mature much quicker than others , once the birds are ranging and going of for an hour then stop ranging , i believe this is the best time to get them in the basket , but ill be starting mine off on 1st of July they will get put in the baskets in there loft the Friday before and be fed and watered that weekend then released on garden on the Sunday this should calm them down prior to road training on the Monday then at least then they wont be afraid of the basket and should reduce stress
  17. i think the ruling is out of order as race rings should not be tampered with , that's already within there rules i say leave them alone
  18. if you have all day yes lol , but there's safety in numbers , so if want to liberate a bird every 30 minutes go for it but better to do it with birds that are already trained and schooled
  19. 10 miles is ok but your relying on them returning in a big batch to the area before breaking up , it will work for some but not for all , i like mine up to 30 mile x 3 times , rather they use there own brains than follow the pack as if ever got left on there own they'd be looking to join a bigger bunch
  20. everyone to there own 1.5 miles is not far enough to train your birds the least id take them is 5 miles , once my young birds are racing i'd only give them two more tosses before there next race , then id just keep them exercising around loft
