the way i see it is this whilst the fancier's can create federations ok some have been around a very long time , many over lap or shrink when there's someone winning , set section area's would mean a federation within each section , this would give good and reasonably fair competition in each area . Similar distances flown in each section each week then create a result for each section then top 5 birds from each section for a weekly national result , then better comparisons can be made from one section to another . Then we might get more recognition on a world scale , I have always believed the best birds are in the UK but there's no where to track results in a plain and simple format . The far east would probably buy more UK birds if we were better set up and had clearer results system for all to see the top pigeon men on a near equal footing in mileage inland , sections at channel

Good grief where to start lol , I would like to see the unions to take control and create better federations and run the sport more like a business , I'd like to see all channel races organised by the unions and run as national races , sections every 50 miles with accessible marking stations. All clubs should accept anyone within there boundary unless a defaulter. Competition should be just that not breakaways so a few can take prizes they wouldn't normally win when true competition is within there club

For last few years I've started on widowhood and paired up for channel racing and also raced the hens 8 times out of 10 the hens beat the cocks , never had any problem with a cock and hen coming around same time , if anything hens tend to be better trappers and cocks follow them in last old bird channel race a cock came to win and was a bit clock shy he lost me the race my second bird a hen came straight in a won 2nd club the cock followed behind taking 3rd place but he came to win , so basically if your trappings right at the home end then your birds should trap no matter if there's hens with them or not

All year round yes feeding young birds is when the birds are tested to the extreme as they have to maintain there own health and that of there young birds , healthy feeders / breeders will breed healthy young birds any that can't pump young birds up full of grub shouldn't be used . They certainly wouldn't get a second chance rearing for me.

yes best multivitamin you can buy and relatively cheap , 2 days a week with live natural yoghurt , keep the gut healthy keep the pigeon healthy better to have good bacteria than bad

Location can be a big part of it , however good pigeons should win in any wind , you can bet if your getting hammered then your probably doing the same thing each week , same thing gets same results experiment little tweaks here and there . You can also bet that there up early sorting there birds out there under control and managed properly , you'l never top the fed whilst sleeping in bed how true is that , Pigeon thrive on strict routine , you can bet his food is measured in one form or another no matter of what feed mix he's using . So firstly you need the right birds , a good man can push a bad bird up the result a bit but he won't ever get it to win . I'm sure if your birds aren't hitting there heights then look at firstly yourself your management , where can improvements be made . Stock forget strains think results strains and pedigrees were only ever invented to hike up jumped up pigeons to create more money for those that want to sell pigeons , stay clear of auctions unless there bereavement or charity auctions , watch results aim to buy a few pigeons that come from birds with the results you want you might not get them from the fed winner but a few down from the fed winner may be a possibility . Those that get results put the work in right birds right management and a good sprinkling of luck . My uncle would say 'p*ss poor preparation will only ever mean p*ss poor performance' .
