This is exactly what I meant earlier. Raise awareness get others onside and gain some momentum. Joe public needs to know the whole story otherwise some would let them think that the songbird population decline is due to global warming and not raptors as some would lead them to believe. Paul.

Great idea but we should also highlight the plight of garden birds in conjunction to racing pigeons this way it will appeal to a much wider audience. Mrs Miggins may not be overly bothered about racing pigeons but may be miffed that she has not seen a thrush in her garden for years or that house sparrows in her part of London are a thing of the past. On the other hand Joe Bloggs may have fond memories of his dad's/grandad's pigeons and may take up the cause. I am all for it as long as it is tailored to a wider audience as some people unfortunately assosiate all pigeons with the pigeons that sit on their town hall. Paul.

Carlsberg Don't Do Pubs......

I took this photo last week when visiting friends in Yorkshire. It was taken in the Midland working mens club in Royston near Barnsley. I believe the birds in the photos are owned and raced by John Woods. I took the photo as I have never seen anything like it and thought it was a fantastic place, infact a little bit of heaven. I dont really think anyone is falling out here they are just expressing their opinions. I personally think it is a great opportunity for people to buy birds and in particular newstarters. The idea of fees I think should only apply to the more commercially minded sellers but from what I can see ( during my short time on here ) they seem to be getting run out of town so to speak. There will always be a market for pigeons and this forum benefits sellers and buyers. Maybe if sellers want to sell for the coming year they should donate to the auction. The buyers could then give some feedback on the auction birds and it could be used as a point of reference for any future buyers particularly new starts. Just my thoughts on the matter. Paul. -

Tippler you have done the right thing 100% if more people were as conscious as you the problems would be fewer. Regards, Paul.

Very true Chris the sad fact is that some peoples ego's are more important than the birds welfare. They would rather send sick birds knowing that thay had no chance than miss a few weeks or a young bird season. Then again there is an argument that they don't know they have a problem or they are aware of the problem and want everyone else to have it aswell.

It must be really tough to witness this and feel helpless to do anything about it. I hope this chap hangs on in there and enjoys his birds without this becoming a constant menace to him. Best of luck to him. Paul.

Duncan what goes around comes around mate. Rise above it, onwards and upwards. I am a great believer in the old saying ' if you can't do someone a good turn don't do them a bad one...... but they only ever take the pi*s once' Regards, Paul. -
Well done no doubt you will be inundated with requests for homers. :) Regards, Paul.
