A ring flash is ok as long as the main lighting is reasonable as well so the pupil is at normal dilation.

would be better if sides dropped, 75 birds a layer trying to get out 1 at a time wouldn't be good, the first birds would be ok but the birds still in the trailer will be going at the wire to get out! (more stress for the birds)
