interesting, i'll run this past a legal friend as if you are paying people for strays, birds that are not there proporty to sell then you could be prosecuted for handling stolen goods!

I think that makes a big difference and the problem is as with many posts we havn't got the full story about these yearlings.

mine have been fine as well but they have excercised every day through the winter so are used to cold winds etc.

it depends on your yearlings, if they were raced as youngsters train on fine days and push them on but if no experience then wait till the weather warms up and get them into some comeback races.

I think you are better of using a plain background and if you wish use a photo edit programme to cut out and use on another background. Some go to far and trim the bird which i'm not personally keen on as i'd rather see a true picture of the bird and not an altered image.

personally i would decide what you plan to do long term, you may plan to race, keep them for pleasure or show them. It would be a good idea to read about all three to help with information on careing along with whats involved. You may be able to find some local fanciers you could also visit to again help with your plan. Its better to start on the right foot rather than getting a bit of this and a bit of that and then deciding you want the other ina couple of years by which time you've got a loftfull of crosses that are of no use to anybody. the rules say 10 years so no need to keep them after that which is why you should reregister any birds in there 9th year as per the current rules.

prob no need to go back through old records but rather than wipe it at tenth year just let it run on until u've built up 20yr history

as we know a lot of pigeons are capable of living longer than 10years and with the age of computers why can't records be kept for 20years as it wouldn't create a paper mountain would it?

sometimes it does happen by mistake, a friend of mine was gifted a bird from a local elderly fancier and it wasn't until i went to transfer ir for him that i found the bird had a '98 ring instead of an '07 ring, they were exactly the same colour.
