  1. see, max the parrot was right ;D ;D ;D
  2. sorry your not getting much feed back cheyne, but being in a differant hemisphere than us , i would think conditioning birds would be very differant ,,for instance theres no way we could get them to do 700 miles as yb,s in fact the way things are going were lucky to get 7 ;D,no but seriously ,i dont see why not race the w,hood system , theres plenty advice on the forum if you look back the pages , theres many books, videos, cd,s etc available , but wish you luck anyway, and happy racing
  3. really looking well , great pic,
  4. if im not wrong sammy , i think theres more protein in safflower seed , whereas maize is high carboheydrate [at least my parrot told me that ;D ;D]
  5. yes they would race just as well the only problem being ,is knowing when and if they were going to lay,,,,,,,if i were to try this [which i have in the past, is paired lesbian hens ,,sitting , only leave 2 eggs and the two hens try to sit at the same time ,sometimes one nudging the other gently off , but it can make them keen [
  6. anyone tried this ? i have been mixing "brahams and murrays good oil" got it for myself actualy but tastes like ,,,,,, but the birds eat this in the mix ,no prob ,,,,just wondered
  7. mitch has this bird , asked me to put it on for him

  9. good luck jason, you seem to be doing very well ,,
  10. main thing,, have birds been vaccinated? sounds like something involving E, coli,, i would suggest as an emerency treatment, amoxicillin ,, but a good avian vet should be called for as a feacial culture and sensitivity study , would allow the vet to make a more detailed diagnosis, remember antibiotics are not to be used as a preventative, they will not work ,and only allow the bacteria to become ressistant to it , i really would advice a good avian vet asap

  17. one of my tricks was [well everyone that was sitting there thought it was a trick ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D was running to the loft to time in ,forgetting about the cloths line ,catapulted back further than when i started ;D ;D ;D ;D

  19. i have found in the past that an older w,hood cock , never having even seen his hen for weeks will [on occasions take to a pair of 2 day old yb,s the day b4 basketing,]without seeing the hen ,,, off course the babies will need renewed[handy to have another pair on babies so you can keep changing them quite often as the cock would have no milk,,,i was 15th gold cup nat, with a cock this way a young hen sitting on about 5 eggs 3 days b4 basketing ittl spend three days trying to tuck the eggs under it this will make it keen a hen or cock sitting on its first eggs of the season [later in the season ]after sitting overdue and beginning to lose interest put a pair of ybs under it[ often good with a barren hen ],and keep the cockand hen separated ,not seeing each other, both think their looking after the yb,s themselves an old cock , driving some times works with certain cocks no matter what you try , if the bird is not at its fittest ,nothing will work
  20. i think what wiley meant was the old saying,,",dont put all your eggs in the one basket" off course meaning keep some birds at home in case of disaster,, which really is quite true
  21. welcome to the forum paul and good luck with your whites ,look forward to reading your posts
  22. if you look up on the internet ,, just simple words ,,",do pigeons need grit" ,,or read www.pigeoncote.com,,,with due respect in my opinion in over 50 years keeping pigeons ,,you are wrong
  23. definately ,, the more training the better ,, single up, double up ,theyll make great yearlings ,,,and that way ,you will have some yearlings ,, were just comming up to the annual onslaught of the innocents

  25. i agree with this post , but shu club rule 10,,,, "an emerengy meeting may be convened AT ANY TIME by the president in the matters of urgency arising which cannot be dealt with by the normal procedure" , this silly rule could be changed if you acted quicker , even now ,still not too late,,
